hey i was in the market for some new headers. just needed some questions answered 1st though:

what is the diameter of stock gst headers? what would be a good upgrade (size wise) for me seeing as how i have a full 3" turbo back exhaust? im still running a t-25 but plan on upgrading later this year..does that matter? and also what brand(s) should i be looking at? thanx!!

Headers are on N/A cars. On turbocharged cars it is called 'exhaust manifold'. The piece that hooks up your turbo to the exhaust is the o2 housing.

I suggest that you upgrade your exhaust manifold when you upgrade your turbo. If you decide to get a T3 or T4 turbo, you'll need a manifold for a T3 or T4 turbo.

If you have already decided that you will be getting a turbo with a DSM housing then look at these:
1) SBR manifold - www.slowboyracing.com
2) EVO III manifold - www.forcedperformance.com
3) Custom manifolds - www.dnperformance.com

If this is going to be a street car, with a turbo that hits full boost at 4,000rpm or less... the only manifold upgrade you really need is a port job. As far as the t3/t4 thing goes... save yourself the trouble, and look into one of the MANY bolt on versions. Save the money you would spend on a new manifold, and maybe have an external wastegate welded onto the one you already have. This way you can control boost easier.

good advice guys...i was lookin at the t04b..i believe that this bolts up to our cars manifold w/o modification, correct? and also, i wanted to get a new manifold (thanx for he correction) due to the fact that the one on my car now looks HORRIBLE and i wanted a nice chrome finish. is there a cheaper way to do this w/o getting a new manifold? or would it be cheaper to just get the new manifold that way its already chrome and wont need porting? thanx11 :dsm:

I know it bolts up to a 1g but I don't know about 2g. I'm sure it does. As far as shiny manifold's go it's not worth it unless you are on a race setup. Besides that, do get a good tubular manifold that won't crack your looking at AT LEAST $500.00 for one. Very NOT worth the money to me. The only manifold you will need is to take your 2g one, paint it flat back and get it ported to 7cm. You shouldn't need anything else unless you start getting into 50-trims. Even then with the right supporting mods the 2g ported manifold will work. Lots of guys on here running 12's with ported 2g manifolds. It's the cheapest and best way to go for the money. I've been researching some and I'm just going to stick with my 2g manifold for the time being. It's not a necessary upgrade.

Well this changes things. You are looking for a manifold for looks not performance upgrade. I'd suggest getting this:

i could be wrong on this one but a header just means indivdual pipes that end up in a collector were as an exhaust manifold just means that all pipes are on the same line like the stock ones or the turbonectics t3/t4 manifold then you have like the SBR tubular header since all the pipes are on a different track

Local machine shop here ported mine out to 7cm for 30 bucks. It's an easy job. You could do it yourself. Then I just used 1200 degree flat black paint and left it be. Still considering those shiney stainless heat shields though. Gotta have a little bling under the hood LOL.

Damn I love the search button :D

Technically - a header is a exhaust manifold with equal lenght runners

Actually a header is made from tubing that is welded together where as an exhaust manifold is usually cast from a mold. Equal length tubes are preferred, but not always a reality on headers.

turbo98eclipse - My bad! I learnt that turbocharged cars CAN have headers!
