I've decided on trading my 2001 GT in for a GSX. I also found a nice clean one I'm comtemplating buying, but unfortunately it's a ....barf automatic transmission. I can't stand that #@%#@%#@%#@%. slow, slipping takeoffs and dying transmissions. If I do buy it, would a 5spd just pop right on in there? there is absolutely no 5-spd GSX's around here that aren't #@%#@%#@%#@%ed up or crankwalked. This has been the only clean one i found

thanks

It can be done, but you have to get alot more than just a tranny ...but half the fun of owning a fast car is shifting :)

Thanks guys. I'm going to take a better look and maybe buy it today. Everyone is telling me not to because of severe reliability issues with these cars and the 2g 4g63, but oh well. I see what I like and I get what i like.

BTW, I called them on the crankwalk issue and the sales guy had no idea so he asked the head tech guy and I was pretty surprised at how fast he said "no crankwalk. no don't worry about it"
hm. Maybe I should get it in writing

cheers,
Eric

hey dude aint nuttin wrong with autos. look at venoms supra and 6 second tundra both autos....................trust me you may get a better launch but you cant shift faster than me.LOL

well i'm a strong believer in that autos aren't anywhere near as fun as a manual. Just using the gas, the brake, and occasionally the handbrake isn't enough to keep me interested. I've never owned an auto before and i fear if i do that i might fall asleep while driving and run into a telephone poll (again...)

What if i get a harsh, high stall speed torque converter?
I think it'll still try and walk like a baseball player

I've looked and looked and all the 5spd's are either crankwalked or really trashed. this auto is very clean, has a few aftermarket goodies: rims (5 spoke) upgraded BOV, and full 3" turboback stainless exhaust with dual tips. looks and sounds sweet. Bright, bright red...got a lot of looks spooling up and blowing off during test drive and almost got a ticket :D blew by a cop at 60 with a pahshhhhhhhhh sound when i let off

it's a great deal considering it has a few goodies already. only problem is that somehow it doesn't feel nearly as fast as my 6G72 Eclipse with cold air intake. must be the lack of torque on the GSX?
