Hey guys, i am wondering weather or not to just go and get a electronic boost controller? how many of you have this? also with you guys who have a manual boost controller do you run the same on everyday driving or do you get out and turn it down? thanx for everything

I had a MBC and switched to EBC. My car performs better with EBC on it than it did with the MBC.

Personally I think if you are new at this. Then get a MBC. Once you have it set, you'll be more inclined to leave it alone. Besides it's much cheaper and will allow for the money saved to be used for other mods.
If you have plenty of mods already, and have control, then get an EBC.
It is too easy to jsut crank up the boost and go faster. But can cause serious damage. Jsut like N2O, very easy to get carried away.

EBC has the advantage of running sane boost levels on the street, and having the option to increase that quickly & easily without popping the hood.

Also, many EBCs have a scramble option with which you can increase boost by a specific % for a specific amount of time.

I run a mbc and keep it set at 20 to 22 psi constantly. I just use my foot pressure on the gas pedal, and keep an eye on my boost gauge to control how much boost I'm running, regardless of what I have it set to. Very simple, very effective, and cheap, and very reliable IMHO. MBC's are what most of the big time racers use.

My pick on MBC is the price... built one for under 10.00. Just be cautious and dont blow your engine....

i went from profec b to hallman mbc becuz I was having to many issues tuning with the profec.. also its known to have issues not boosting above 20psi.. in regards to the ease of running high/low boost with a ebc, if you can control your foot your basically doing the same with an mbc and saving ALOT of $$

thanx guys, ill look into a manual boost controller, seems more worth my money...

i was going to get a profec b, but then i found a used AVCR for cheap, so i couldn't turn that down. EBC is better, but it costs more. all comes down to what is most important to you. MBC's work great considering how cheap they are.

The Profec B runs on percentages of the stock wastegate spring. If you have a 7 lb (stock) wastegate spring, you will have troubl going over 22 or 23 psi. If you have an upgraded spring, you will be fine.

im gettin the profec B for 100$, i was planning on going MBC, but, hey, its a steal, might as well. besdies, if it sucks, im sure ill find some sucker to take it off my hands for 150$ (right joe? ha ha)

That's great info! I'm guessing that my FP Big28 has a 7 lb spring on the wastegate. Would I be correct in thinkng that way even though it's an upgraded turbo? Thanks!!

I was told the same thing, only thing that confuses me about that is why was I able to get the same boost on all 3 of my setups with the Profec B maxed out.

I got 21psi out of the T25, Big28, both internally gated and the L2R with my Tial 40mm.
