Nova,
ok, so I set my ignition timing at 5* BTDC (I think). I am just wondering which way the marks go. All that I could see is the 10* mark, so, looking at it from the Drivers fender, I set it 5* to the left of the 10* mark, but since I didn't know which direction it went, I assumed that it increases left to right (how we read), but it is possible that I did set it at 15* and not 5*. I just need somebody to tell me which way it goes (standing at the drivers side fender) I.E. It increases left to right, or it decreases left to right.

decrease left to right, so your probably at 15*...

The very first point on the cover should be TDC, each mark after that is in an increment of 5* BTDC, so the first mark to the left of the TDC mark is 5 and thats where you want it

Like Candela says, the crank rotates clockwise when viewed from the front.
So other than the right most mark on the timing cover that is TDC the rest are 5 degree increments BTDC causing more timing advance as to move to the left.
I've highlighted both the crank pulley and the 5 BTDC marks with white paint to make it easier to see the them.
