Versus buying $30-$40 worth of extension cables, has anyone just cut off the ends of their cables for their MAF translator and spliced extention wires into their car?

its been done many times before, make sure u label everything first with like number system so you dont make any mistakes, its not a job you wanna do twice.

I made my own harness. Just cut off the ends and leave yourself some room to
resolder. To make things simple, just make your harness extra long, pull it thru the firewall, and use tape and corrugated tubing to make it factory looking. Then use an ohm meter on each end of the harness wires to make sure you have the right wire and label it (or you can use different color wires to keep them straight). Not difficult, just takes some
time to make but will save you big $$.

Even when you buy the $30 extension, You still need your own wire to extend the MAFS plug from the translator for it to reach all the way into the engine bay to the regular mafs plug. I bought the cable so that is how i know.

I did it one wire by one. took like 2 hours of going back and forth but at the end it's very nice and sits in the car! Whats the use of having a tuning tool in the engine bay and popping the hood everytime you want to make adjustments. That just doesn't go together.

I just got the cables from fullthrottle this week.
It seems as you only got 1 cable? I got both, 1 for the MAF and one for the MAS harness. $55. with shipping. I think that is a good price for them and having the translator in the car will be very cool. Location is the next to deceide. Any feedback for locations? Mark

I bought mine from sbr, It was like 29 bucks, Maybe thats why I only got one. I'm not sure. I think it is alot better inside the car because you will not hafto pop your hood everytime to make adjustments.

I got both, the mas and MAF harnesses. My car is in storage for the winter. Anyone who has done this where did you locate your tanslator? Thans, Mark

Here is where mine is. I routed all the wires through the steering boot at the firewall. I just had to snip a part of that ring that comes with aftermarket cd players out for the maft to get just the right amount of room.

I just put the tip of the flip over cover in the slit that is there, Being that whole black piece is a seperate piece of the dash.. Then I put the cable behind the white thing right next to it, And snap it back on.

My friend has a 2g and used these little circle velcro double sided tape things and put them on the back of the logger, and then where he mounted it, Then when he wants to take it off, you just pull it off being they are bonded both together by velcro.

I got one of these VSM (vehicle specific mounts) and used velcro to attach palm. It attaches to the 2 right radio mounting bolts sliding behind the bezel so it sits just to the right of the radio/climate control in a 1G, 14 gauge steel black and its sturdy. I did the vent clip holder thing but it shook and fell off over big bumps, this is much better and doesnt cramp passenger leg room since it angles up from radio.

I built a plate that mounts in the glovebox and I wrapped the plate in black vinyl. Looks excellent and clean. I will be mounting my Translator there (along with a few other things). I will take pics as soon as I put my interior all back together.

My translator sits under the cupholder in the center arm rest. Extended the wires by myself and passed them through where the ac fittings used to go through the firewall. My palm is mounted on the side of the center stack with a custom aluminum mount I fabricated from some roofing crap at home depot, some tin snips, and a pair of pliers. The palm stays attached with 2 strips of easy release velcro.
