I am hitting up my muffler shop today, because I got my 2.5 DP on, and I am wanting to get rid of my cat.

So, can we put test pipes in our 2g without tripping off a CEL? Or should I get a high flow-3" cat instead.

I would prefer a test pipe, as it would save me $100. But, that is why I am asking.

Opinons? Thoughts? Pros? Cons?

Thanks,
Nathan

You will get the CEL light but if you leave it alone for a month, it will turn off by itself.

am i missing something?... where is this light everyone is talking about? i put a (resonated) straight through pipe (you can look directly through it) in place of my cat and i never got any lights goin off... maybe my sensor is broke or the light is burned out?...

Your check engine light never went on????

Each 2G seems to react differently. I have no cat. Somedtimes I get a CEL sometimes I dont.

Same here. I can go 6 to 8 months with out a cel, and all of a sudden wham, it will light up. Seems to do it when the weather goes from one extreme to another. No big deal though, I just disconnect my neg battery terminal for a few minutes, reconnect it, start the car and let it come up to temperature before driving it, so I don't have to worry with idle problems or stalling until the computer re-learns again. Works everytime!

That's killer dude! I'm hoping mine will eventually do the same.

well - as is with all things in life - i had to go and be a dumba** and say that my light never came on (hasn't for the 2 months i've had the TP in) and last night i was getting back in from orlando and the damn thing lights up AS i'm pulling into my driveway - go figure - m'gonna do the bypass myself - i would not like to have the thing on and have something else being wrong @ the same time but me never knowing about it cause i just assume its my exhaust.

thanx 4 tha link TurboSpyder98

would someone mind better explaining this wiring schema to me? i took it to radio shack (shoulda known better) then i took it to a real electronics place and at the second place they were totally confused about the 12watt part... i'm not versed in electronics but i'm not dumb either - the directions are not very clear (and from what i can tell the wiring schema is different from one pic to the next) - the guy at the electronics place kept asking me what voltage i needed to disappate and i told him that it was a car application so 12 volts would be the max but since the directions said 12 watts it was confusing them i guess. anyway - don't want to start my car on fire - any help would be much appreciated

As far as the high flow cat goes...don't waste your money on it ...not worth it. I'm not sure what the law is where u live, but here in Texas, its illegal for a muffler shop to install a testpipe on your car due to EPA laws. I thought that was the case everywhere...wasn't for sure if yo was asking that. I do know that those bolts are hard to get off the car without being on a lift...or at least mine were.

psyjoniz "confused about the 12watt part"

It's actually very simple from what I could read if you know the basics. Watts=Volts X Amps.

He wrote "This heater element flows around 1 Amp of current so you'll need resistors that can dissipate at least 12 Watts of current"

So in other words "12Watts / 1 Amp = ? Volts"

I'll let you guess this one :p

Hope this helps.

I have the 3" eliminator pipe, and it never came on like i was told it would.

The OBDII ccomputer runs the second oxygen sensor in cycles, when it reads no catalystics signal it should trip something in the computer. But it doesn't always do it.

There is a rumor that some second gens are not ODBII, the way to tell is to reach under your dash to the right, BY LAW THE CAR SHOULD HAVE A HARNESS WERE YOU COULD PLUG A DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER INTO.

Mine has it but i have never gotten the lot thank god.

Those so called high flow cats are all the same. they all have to pass EPA regulations. So try not to pay to much for the one that says i am beter than evryone else.

good luck

I was wondering if anyone could supply me with the instructions for the F-body 2nd o2 sensor eliminate? the link is dead and my mans 97 GSX is running a little richer than I would like.

Any help would be greatly apprecieated.

peesh,
Nick

i noticed that the other day myself - i swear i had it saved here somewhere - if i find it i'll post it. i personally couldn't figure out how to do the bypass myself - but i'm completely electronics illiterate - i would need a step by step.
