hey guys ... well i just need some replies on the effects of milling down our heads for a buddy of mine. the machine shop guy told him that machining it would have no change on anything  and that he has never heard of anyone having to buy hmm lets say a mitsubishi metal head gasket (the 4 layer one) because of this ... though another friend of mine told him he would have to use 2 felpros    ... the machine shop guy told him the he had never heard of the timing changing or compression ratio changing due to "milling" ...

Find a different machinist. There is a limit to milling the head and if the machinist is not aware of tha,t then you shouldn't let him touch your stuff.

well it's not my shit ... it's my brother in laws ... i have told him ... i can't put his arm behind his back and make him do something (his mechanic that i already told him was a "####ing idiot" towed his AWD on a regular tow truck {front wheels up back wheels on the ground} after i told him that it was NOT ok to tow his car like that .. its a 92 6bolt/4bolt eclipse gsx)

Kindly explain to your machinist that milling the head will reduce the size of the combustion chamber, thus increasing compression. Therefore there will be a change, and a large change at that.

sorry to confuse anyone i am using my friends account. zyklonbzombie aka reyrey

nawh ... he's (both the machinist and the mechanic) just a v8 muscle head who has no experience with them "newfangled contraptions" like turbocharged 4bangers or full time AWD. everyone here is either into muscle or trucks ... oh yeah and honDUHs

Theyres a difference between a retard, and a V8 muscle head. A V8 muscle head would know that resurfacing a head would cause a change in the compression unless using a thicker headgasket, as well should know about an awd system (only because most would know, i mean trucks/suvs have AWD).

That mechanic is not a V8 muscle head, but a retard.

when you go to visit him next explain it... Bring crayons and paper if you must to explain it.. :D

he's both ... a v8 muscle head and a retard ... he also thinks that AWD is the same as 4x4 ....
