anyone know what the limitations of the Profec B are. I cant seem to get over 20lbs.. Im not sure why.. Im thinking of picking up a MBC for track use when Im ready to go over 20.. anyone else heard of this?

The max I have always heard/seen the Profec B being run to....is 25psi....It will not dial in beyond that. **Noted also from personal experience. I couldn't get beyond 25lbs with the HIGH boost knob turned all the way.**

The only possibility of a way to get more boost out of a Profec B would be by also adjusting the wastegate tighter....You MAY be able to squeeze a few more lbs O boost out of the controller that way.

well i have my knob turned all the way up and it only hits 20psi.. thats what I dont get.. unless it has something to do with the dials on the back of the controller or the balance knob..

The highest I can get the low button to go is just over 18psi, and I haven't tried the high one to the max yet. I do know that the theory behind the profec is that the low button setting is supposed to allow 50% more boost than the wastegates setting, and the high button is supposed to allow 100% more boost. I also know you never want to have the high boost setting lower than the low boost setting. Hope that helps someone.

So then what EBC's allow for over 20psi, AVC-R, Blitz.

later,

I know the AVCR will. The profec B will also. on my old 16G I could get 23-24 psi out of it on the high boost setting which is about 100% more than the wastegate's default setting (typically 11.5psi). To run any higher boost than that, a manual is probably what you want to go with. I have an old EVC I at home that I might retry out to see if I can get it to go over 25 psi cause maybe I will need that this year.

Hrm Larry, I dunno if I would run that much boost on the Big28, not that I know for sure..then again, I'm running 20ish on pump gas. I just know that the turbo is only rated to 350 to the ground. As for the Profec B, you should be able to get up to 25lbs or so on it. A friend had one and had no problems with that on his 16G. He went to an HKS EZ because he is upgrading his whole setup and it can hold well into the 30's boost range. Did you buy the Profec B new?

I was only able to get around 22-23 psi on my Profec-B with the hi knob turned all the way up. I had this idea on how to get more boost out of it but my timing belt went before I could try. I thought that the pressure line going to the control unit should have something to do with how much boost the profec is willing to give. I was thinking of putting some kind of a restrictor in that line so the unit sees less pressure and in turn allowing more boost. I'm not sure if this will work or not for sure but it seems that the logic is right. Like for example, when you're boosting 15 psi the unit only sees 10psi and so on.
Has anybody tried this? I would be interested in knowing if it actually works because I know I'll be boosting more than 23psi after I finish my setup.

Hmm..Dunno.
I was able to get 25psi out of my Profec B with the high knob turned all the way and the gain turned full sharp--on my old 1G FWD using a Standard Big16G turbo--granted it didn't last long because of fuel cut problems(cold weather).

However, I don't know if it was the controllers fault or the turbo....but on all my dyno pulls...I would lose 2psi over the rpm band by redline.
