Hey guys, I recently installed an evoIII big16g, a 2.5" SS tubular o2 housing w/ atmos dump, and a 3" megan downpipe (and cat-back of coarse).

My only install problem was the bracket that supports the DP that is bolted to the block. It got in the way of me lining up the dp to o2 housing so I removed it. Will this have any negative side effects from this?? Should I build something to replace the one I took off? (since I was unable to bend it correctly to make use of it)

Thanks in advance guys.

no, dont worry aoout that garbage... the front of my block is so clean after i got rid of all the trash there, while instaling my turbo

Cool, I just wanted to make sure I wasnt adding any stress to my turbo or exh. manifold...

RRE says why turbo to manifold gaskets fail (break apart, leak) because of improper downpipe support. Im currently trying to take my stock one off the put it on the RRE pipe... it's just too damn hot outside right now :thumbdown

hmm, that is interesting, the downpipe i have is suported by a rubber hanger as well, however i guess i have an 02 elim so the whole bit is connected

That's probably only one effect. I'd venture to say there are more. Without it you are putting a torque (due to the DP length and engine roll) on the exhaust manifold, turbo housing and even your DP flange.

If you want to keep the reliability up, I'd figure out how to reattach the old one. Yes, it's very annoying, but it's there for a reason.

Enough said.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll find a way to support it.
