Hey everyone,
I am going to replace my engine in my 1990 eclipse gsx I was wondering where and who sell them and how much. I plan on assebling it all myself and then swapping with the old engine but I have no clue where to get one for it and what kind or what I can do with it, All I know is that I need a new engine be cause this car has over 140,000 miles on it and the owners before me cared not for this fine piece of machine. Well anyways if you could get me a web site to look at engines and parts I just a whole new engine this will be my two year project. Well thanks!

You didn’t state your overall goals, which is kind of important in recommending an action plan for you. There are a million importers that can get you a complete engine with around 50k miles on it. But that is going to be a motor of suspect quality. I would recommend sending your head out to one of many shops to get it ported, polished and have ss valves installed. Then I would go over to Coneclli and order 95 pistons which are fairly inexpensive. Then you can take your block over have it machined and have the 95 pistons put on the 91 rods. All that should cost less then 2gs and you would have a motor capable of 600+ to the crank.

I gues my over all goal it to get the bolts out of the block replace the pistons and heads and porfted and pollished I want it to run like new and be able to handle a lot of horse like you suggested. Main problem is that some of the bolts that hold the echaust manifold on the block have snapped off and half of the bolt is still in the block! AN I am burning oil and the engine is just old!

If you don't know that the exhaust manifold bolts to the head and not the block, I don't think you should be rebuilding it yourself. Just my personal opinion.

The question is are you looking for a built motor to hold a huge turbo or are you looking for a torque monster block or are you looking for something that will just run.

There are a lot of questions to be asked and answered. How much do you want to spend? Forged pistons? What compression ratio? Stock rods or aftermarket? Blueprinting, balancing? Stock crank?
