O.K., I got this crazy idea one night to move my MAF, specifically the 2 sensors and the box. I was going to move it up the IC pipe past the BOV so I could vent my new BOV to the atmosphere. But, if the two sensors are pressure type sensors, this isn't going to work because I would be placing the sensors in the side of the IC pipe. Anyone know if the sensors are pressure type sensors or not?

Just doesn't seem worth it at all, to move a 1gen maf to after the bov. First you'd be going from a 2.25" or so upper ic pipe to a huge opening on the maf, and then back down before the throttle body. Don't know (doubt it) if there is room to put the 1g maf back there. Then the maf measure intake air temp and barometer, so the intake air temp value will be completely different now that it is after the turbo; the air will be MUCH hotter. It's just that the ecu calculations weren't designed to have those high of values, so it might do some wierd things to compensate for it. Don't know how it would affect barometer.

All in all, it's not worth it. If you really want to vent, why not go with a 3" gm maf after the bov and get the translator. It's a lot easier to put a small 3" gm maf back there then a 1gen maf. Also there are many supporting parts for the gm maf; you would be on your own with the 1gen maf. How this helps.

yea, the MAF on DSMs is a karman vortex type, meaning it only reads the vorticies in air being sucked in, not pressure type. Sadly that will not work, you need to have a hot-wire MAF. You can find a GM hot-wire MAF for anywhere from 30-50 bucks on ebay, but you will also need a translator. I got mine from Dejontool for 199 and it was shipped to my house in 2 days. Its worth buying..I've seen alot quicker spoolup, more power, and about 5-6 mpg more due to better tuning. Not to mention the gorgous sounds of the bov venting to the atmosphere :thumb:

also try your local salvage/junk yard...i got mine for $40, they have tons of them cuz they were on an assload of different cars.... but like these guys said, youll need a translator for it....you can make your own uicp if you want to save some money but if you dont have the tools just get the pipe from dejon tool

extreme PSI sells that kit for venting into the atmosphere..anyone buy it..i'm cool with the recirculation.. :thumb:
