Okay, I purchased an engine and pretty much received a long block, and after looking around the forums, I realized that the oil housing is different on my JDM than it is on the original engine.

When I went and compared my oil housing with the one on my JDM, it looked like the JDM housing had more outlets than the original one does, and the original housing also has a cooler ring around it. Also, there's the one "problem" that I read about on the forums where the oil idiot light will not work with the JDMs because it doesn't have the proper connectors.

Now, where I'm going with this is what else should I replace with the original engine parts? The biggest thing to note is this is a long block, so I already had to use my manifolds, turbo, o2 housing, water pipe, thermostat housing and some oil piping. But should I replace any of the parts that came on it, other than the oil housing? I'm not sure if the 4G63 came out of an AT or an MT car, because my car is MT and I could replace the camshafts with the MT cams.

Thanks for any advice you can give me, and if you want pictures of anything, just ask you and you shall receive.

1. the oil filter housing is different because the jdm motors have a front mount oil cooler, what you need to do is 1. go the pain in the ass route and swap oil filter housings from an old motor, OR do what i did when i did my swap, go find any `1990 turbo model dsm and they are the only year that has a front mount oil cooler, jakc it and the lines nad it bolts right up, also, there is no place for the oil pressure sending unit to connect to the jdm oil filter housing, its a dummy gauge to me anywas so it didnt bother me, other things u should change is the CAS. if you have any more questions pm me, i did the swap, it was very easy

I paid ~$1390 (including shipping) from Rising Sun Engines ( www.risingsunengines.com ) They only ship you a longblock, but they do a good job in sealing it up with plugs, and if you like a little flair, the engine was nicely painted, as well (red valve cover, black block, normal aluminum head.) They also do a nice amount of testing on the engines that you can read about on their website. Any questions about them, just ask.

EO95, I just switched the oil filter housings around, since I had an extra gasket lying around from my felpro kit and I had the old housing from my old engine. It wasn't too hard since the engine was out of the car still and only required taking the timing belt cover and the crankshaft pulley off.

Just a quick note, I'm only in Williamsport while at college.
