I'm considering purchasing an O2 Housing dump setup for my 2g, current mods are listed below i was wondering how the performance value is? the sound? if anyone has a clip of a car running one? and the best place to purchase one?

Thanks for any replies
Johnny

Lots of places make them, buy whatever one you like. I suggest you support our Vendors on DSMTuners because they literally pay for our place to play.

External dump helps control boost creep and sounds hella mean when your gate is open. Some people don't like the noise however I have yet to hear a fast car that's quiet at WOT so who cares? It sounds like an open exhaust (if you were to take off your cat and leave your downpipe open) when your at WOT. I think it sounds pretty kick ass my self but others compare it to a truck with a broken exhaust sound.

Some people say that dumping the WG to the atmosphere releives a lot of pressure from the exhaust so you get more flow (because it's not going back in) and gain of 10hp or so are generally seen. It's also said not to disrupt the exhaust pulse in the system beacuse of it adding exhaust from another source after a particular boost level is hit. I don't know about that, however the thoery sounds ok. I am not an expert at flow or exhaust pulse so don't really ask me there.

Regardless, they look cool and sound cool IMO. A good mod and cheap. Also saves you from having to run the ugly stock O2 housing, never liked those to begin with. I don't have one on my car but have done a lot of turbo systems and routed them back in and left them out depending on the customer so I am familiar with the sound and performance aspect.

i have punishment racing's o2. It sounds extremely mean when the wastegate opens. Its not too loud at all. Installation was easy. I have no boost creep and my 16g isn't even ported. But I do have 2.5" exhaust so that helps.

I got mine off DSMTuning, but it looks the same as Punishment's. It's loud, mean, and is aimed away from everything. It does slightly blow onto my LICP, so I might attach a piece of flew tubing and route it closer to the ground eventually.

Other then that, I love it! It's fun boosting next to old people and they slam on their brakes wondering wtf just exploded LOL.

Hey thanks guys! :thumb: How does the punishment racing one size up... does it sit close to the wiring harness down there any danger of melting stuff?

Mine didn't come close to any wiring harness(1g AWD), but it does dump right next to the oil filter so my oil filter is half covered in soot now. It is a 2.5" Punishment by the way. Sounds good except before the wastegate opens because mine is leaking some. Anyway, I am happy with it and it looks like they are going for only 125 right now. :thumb:

yea lets hope the dump isn't anywhere near the wiring harness, I remember a post where a guy burned all of his I mean a handful of wires.........

This thread provided a great deal of information about O2 housings which you may find very beneficial in your search for an O2 housing: Looky

Oh, I forgot to mention that my Punishment o2 housing wasn't lined up very good. What I mean is, the tubes were a little bit off centered of the flanges. What I had to do was blend the flange together with the tubing to smooth out the inside. I'll see if I can put up some pictures...

Firts pic shows the lip, second shows the same spot with it removed.
