Friday afternoon I went to DSMotorsports to pick up my shiny new turbo... a 20G from Mike Huml at SlowBoyRacing. I had to go with him because he stole our logo (I am SBR also, but it stands for something different - Sh!tbox Racing for me) but mainly because he offered the setup I wanted for a reasonable price. Anyway, this thing is perty. TD06 20G with a 38mm internal wastegate. The wastegate looks beefy with a nice thick actuator arm. We ported the exhuast housing a little too. Almost too pretty to install... Almost.

Well come Monday, since I had the day off for my birthday, I figured I'd install it. 7 hours later, after fitment issues with the IC piping, food and piss breaks, and a nice stripped head for the oil feed line, it was in, but the feed leaked a little. Well today i stopped by Turbotrix (Thanks Jeff) and picked up a SS oil feed line and when I got home from work today, I installed it, cleaned up the engine bay a little, plugged up the head and wiped eveything down. Started her up and no leaks so it was highway time.

Review - HOLY SH!T THIS CAR HAULS NOW!!!! MBC was set to 20psi. Turbo spools by 3500-3800rpm. Redline comes super fast with the cams, but this turbo just pushes you back into the seat harder and harder as the revs climb. Puts a nice smile on the face. Unfortunately, I need to retune as I am approaching 900°C by the top of 3rd so I am gonna play with the boost settings a little and retune for 18psi. IMHO, everyone needs a 20G. Kudos to Mike Huml for offering a sweet internally gated 20G.

got back home from the run, pulled her in the garage and no leaks. All looks good. Now I just need to install my rebuilt tranny and I am hopefully hitting the track in search of 11s next Friday!

how much for the turbo? did it include an install kit?

I'm not 100% on this, but shouldn't you break in a new turbo? someone correct me if i'm wrong but 20 psi seems high at first whatever works man...

also, are you selling the 16g?

no you don't need to break it in.

Congrats on the turbo. Anything 20G and up is a mad rush of power. I can't wait to have my L2R runnig full bore this weekend.

Thanks guys.
No break in for a turbo is necessary. I did prime her up real quick at first. I then let her idle for a while as I checked for leaks and stuff. Figured all was good and let her rip.
John, from your mouth to God's ear. This turbo rips. Have you taken yours to the track at all? I was looking into the L2R as well. Decided to go old school though and chose the 20G. Can't go wrong with either one I am sure.
Turbo cost $1100 with the internal gate... $1000 wihout. Comes with nothing but the turbo. I installed her on the 1G so no install kit was needed. I picked up all the replaceables (gaskets and such) from Conicelli Mitsubishi for around $50.
No longer have the 16G. She was spoken for months ago when I was talking about going bigger. She is tried and true and has been on 3 different 12 second cars. My friend couldn't pass her up. Sorry.

Well my track experience has been less than stellar so far. once I fix thi boost leak issue I will be at the track again.
