14B performance.

Hey guys just wanted some opinions, I was offered a 14b for 50bucks the other day. The turbo needs to be rebuilt, and I don't know how much that will cost so could someone please link to me to somewhere that has standard rebuild prices. I also wonder how much new internal parts of the turbo are? The seller said it might need them. I figure 200$ for the install kit(2g) and the price of the turbo plus whatever the cost of the rebuild, would this be worth it? Will I notice a large performance increase in the car? So say its all said and done it costs me 500$ or below is it worth it for just upgrading to the 14b, I am not looking for an 11sec car or hell even 12s for that matter I just want the car to pull a little bit more and be able to crank off mid-high 13's. Someone with a 14b(on a 2g) could you please explain in your words how much better it is than the old T-2small..thanks Corey

First, don't buy that worn out 14B for $50. You can get them all day on the trader in good shape for $75 (not so good shape) to $150 (often very good shape). I am not 100% up on my 2G's, but I think you can piece an "install kit" together for less than $200. I think it is just some coolant lines, some oil lines (my 1G oil lines cost me like $23 for the pair) and some ingenuity.

PS - I would also look into exchanging your T25 in on a "Garrett-type" upgrade--the T28--that bolts up to your 2G with all factory stuff. I think AGP has a deal going on these right now.
