Can anyone recomend where to go to get my dsm chip socketed at. I live in Lemont, Il. Willing to drive far to get it done. Thanks

dude its not hard to due go to radio shack bring the computer in with the housing off, be like dude i want to socket this chip can you hook me up with stuff i need. solder, solder sucker, and copper desoldering stuff, soldering gun adjustable temp cuz you want to use the lowest temp you can when messing with microcontrollers, and an ic socket. after you have the stuff i am sure you have some friends who thinks they are so awesome with car stereo crap and has some experience with soldering, if not the level of difficulty i would rate to be very low. its quite easy to do. look on line how to solder then practice with some wireing you have lieing around or get that 70's radio from the attic and practice desoldering and soldering things in that. you will get the hang of it. and will master it with in an hour or 2. now that you are a jedi do it to the ecu in your car.

ps don;t breathe the smoke in solder contains lead. even though the smoke isn't lethal its not good to breathe it

you might see me some time in orland moe joes coffee kicks ass. after you do this get a screamer mocha its the shizzzz nittt

Yo, X Camero owner I don’t know what your talking about bro. You seem to go through these bouts of incoherent ranting, and I don’t think anyone really know what you are talking about. What this guy needs is someone to give him a straight answer, not long strings of sentence fragments. Take my advise dude, gather your thoughts together for a couple of minutes, and try and type it out so we know what your trying to say.

Have you gone through your phone book and called the local electronics repair shops (i.e. computer repair, tv repair, or straight up electronics shops)? Any of those places should be able to do it.

I understood what he said. It was good advice to, helped me, I'm a n00b to ecu/board soldering. And the solder/solder sucker/ and copper desoldering was good info. Also, the practicing on an old junk stereo was excellent info to.

Thanks man! :thumb:

I knew what he was saying. Look for computer repair store in the area becuse they will have the proper equipment. If you havent bought the chip yet then send it to the company that made the chip and they can do it all at once.
