i am going to be replacing my head with a rebuilt one that im picking up. Now i just wanted to know what steps i would have to take before and during to do this. I pretty much assume i must drain the oil, and maybe the coolant. Also i am going to replace the head/valve cover gaskets to be on the safer side. I dont know if there is anywhere around here that gives u steps on how to do this so i thought id post this since i havent been able to find anything. thanks for you time.

A must have is a haynes or a chilton's manual, and you will be set as long as you follow direction's carefully.

A head job is easy:laugh: , but a manual for your car car is essential. I don't know if you have one or not, but if you don't then get one.

There is a write-up somewhere on here that someone did a full, step-by-step instructions on how to swap a head. You may try finding that.

Noo offense, but from the terminology you are using, it does not seem you can pull this off yourself. Of course you have to drain the coolant. The waterneck runs out of the head! Myabe you should consider some help...

thanks for the help.. i will have having someone helping me but i just wanted to see what i would have to do and stuff like that.
