This is directed to anyone who has installed their own 34 mm WG flapper.
I'd like to know how you install/secure the flapper to the arm. Do you use an impact hammer, or what? I'm assuming it's just like driving down a rivet?

Thanks!

It depends on which flapper you get, and from where. With mine, it looke to be nothing more than a machined 34mm stainless valve, like it was meant to be a head valve. The end was nothing more than a shaft. Here's what I did: I got a thin hacksaw blade and scribed the dead center mark of the valve's end. I then cut a slot about 1/4 inch down the shaft, and place the shaft through the flapper arm, and put the old collar on top of the shaft. I then used three different sized screwdivers and a hammer, and pounded the line I cut with the saw so it opened outward above the collar. 92 is right with the above post, as the flapper does need to move just a little bit. This method makes sure that still happens. 10,000 miles later, and it still seals and opens perfectly. I was a little aprehensive about 'mushroom heading' the valve, as I didn't want to bend the shaft, or break the valve.

Hope this helps.

Matt.
