16g setup.......

If you check out my profile you will see what I have currently. I plan on buying (by the end of this summer) 16g, MAF Translator, 550cc injectors, 3inch MAF Sensor, and an ACT 2100 clutch. Is there anything I am missing? Do you think a 3 1/2 MAF would be better? Thanks

3" is fine. I'd get a fuel pump as well and crank the boost to around 20ish.

The 3.5 inch MAFT is not really necessary for our DSMs. Its much easier to go to a blowthrough setup with the 3 inch if you ever plan to.

Nice to see someone who is getting a 16G instead of a larger turbo. Go with what works.

Yeah I was thinking about a Walbro 190, but then the guy that is going to help me tune my car says upgraded fuel pumps for a 16g are over rated. He says the stock 2g fuel pump is fine, he just says I should get bigger injectors, and MAFT for tuning. Any opinions on that

I'm still fan of 2G MAS and 550's. Almost no tuning needed.

16G's are very good turbo's that need more fuel to work properly. The stock 2G fuel pump is alright for the stock T-25. You will need to rewire to get the full benefit from any pump. Get a 190lph Walbro and you should have more than enough. More fuel is always better than not having enough. Do you really trust your tired 2G pump with that new turbo? I wouldn't. Whoever this guy is telling you this stuff doesn't know much about DSMs.

Groomz,
Since it looks like you know alot about a Evo III 16g, would you add or take out anything else to my list in order to support that turbo?

MAF Translator
3inch MAF Sensor
550cc injectors
Walbro 190lph
ACT 2100 clutch
3" Turboback
Thanks man

A S-AFC is a must for that list. The MAFT translator can only make broad adjustments, while you will need some sort of fine tuning to get the best driveability and power. With an Evo III, 660cc/min may be better to get the most from that turbo.

Change that 3 inch turbo back to a 2.5 inch downpipe and 3 inch catback. Creep is a big problem for alot of 16G owners for various reasons, but the major problem is too large an exhaust. Yes turbo's don't like any backpressure, but wastegates do, especially internal ones. Flow too much out of the turbine housing, and the wastegate is useless. I would even go full O2 eliminator 2.5 inch all the way back. That's just me. I prefer having control of my boost rather than the extra 10hp that 3 inch will get you ( on a 16G, bigger turbo's are NOT the same ). I'm stopping at the 16G for my FWD, so I'm using 2.5 inch. Planning on bigger? Go 3 inch. Just be realistic about the power you want.

OK dude, not sure what your goals are but this is what I would recommend for a relatively (much more then other settups) reliable, gas efficient (again more so than others) streetable (stock like characteristics) settup....

*any 16G--small, big or evo just depends on what you want to spend, as any of them will net similar results
*550cc injectors
*stock 2G maf -- just back out the screw and enjoy the money saved
*s-afc--these can be had for $100 now that the newer ones are out
*3" turbo back--maybe even stick with 2.5" DP (save$)-- with test pipe
*walbro 190lph rewired
*decent intake pipe and K&N adapter/filter
*boost/egt gauge
*act 2600-- 2100---> sucks period

Now for tuning that is up to you. Loggers arent to great, DSM LInk is the shizzle but expensive and dyno time/ wideband is the best. There were time when all I used was afc and egt/o2 meter to tune and the car always ran fine. With a decent knowledge and a mild settup like that you don't have to get serious with equipment. The 2G maf is great and though a little more restrictive than the translater you save money/time and tunign when keeping it.

This settup is so fun IMO and the car still reminds me of a fairly stock settup. Though capable of low-mid 12's in most cases, its still very mild and CHEAP! Its a great settup/choice IMO and good luck. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Good luck,

i was thinkin to get the following for a '95 gs-t wit a 6bolt swap (Which already has 510cc injectors, a jet ecu, big 16g turbo)

Dejon MBC--> Setting boost at 11 for Daily Driving and 18 on the weekends
A/F Gauge & Boost Gauge
EvoIII P&P O2 Sensor
Intake w/ Air Filter-->which do u recomend, what setup?
Down-pipe (2.5" Inlet, 3" Outlet)
Turbo Back Exhaust (3” Straight Pipes)
Walbro 190lph Fuel Pump
Front Mount Intercooler w/ IC Piping
ACT 2600 Clutch--> Is this still street drivable?)
Lightened flywheel
AFC or AFC-II

How would the car run in regards to fuel? Would it get fuel cut? What intake is recomended (w/ air filter) WHat about boost Creep? Thanks
