Hey everyone,

I figured I'd create a blog instead of a thread. This is my first blog. Well here goes...

I've always wanted to try powder coating and sand blasting. My bf and I went to harbor freight and bought a blast booth and powder coating gun.

We prepped everything first in the blast booth. For media we're using aluminum oxide 70 grit. It's pretty abrasive and takes dirt, grime and paint right off. Then we rinsed the parts off and let them dry.

Then powder coat time! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

In the pictures you can see where it's just powder and where the powder is curing.

I bet you've never seen a pink on black magnus manifold before . I think the parts turned out really well for just learning to powder coat. If there's any local dsmers who want some stuff powder coated contact me and I'd be glad to help out a fellow dsmer.

Tell me what you think!

Very nice. What did you use to cure the powder coat? Did you use an oven? I need my VC painted so I might stop by.

Thanks. We're using a large high temp curing lamp. We opted for a heat lamp instead of an oven so we can powder coat larger items, such as intercooler piping.

Finished parts:

I just finished now (at night) so here's a couple pictures with the flash.

Here's without a flash so you could see how shiny everything turned out:

BTW - The cam gears aren't done yet, I have to go over them again.

Looks good - I'm going to be blasting and coating my parts soon too. Did you tape off any of those parts while coating? Or can you control the powder spray enough to coat just where you want?

You can definately control it enough to only get into spots you want. For the manifold and valve cover I used high temp tape to do the letters seperately.
