Well now that the Grand Bayou Race Series is over and I have had a month to get my "regular" life back in order. Its time to start thinking and ordering more upgrades for next season. A sceond place overall finish in my rookie season was a good start for me. Now its time to add some new goodies under the hood. Here is the current path the race car is taking.

Parts I already have in the shop:
  • New Eagle Rods
  • New ARP Head Studs
  • New ARP Main Bolts
  • New Cometic 7 Layer Metal Head Gasket
  • Forced Performance Racing Manifold

Parts that have been recently ordered:
  • Mitsu TD05H EVO III "Big" 16G Turbo
  • 16G Install Kit
  • Megan Racing O2 Housing
  • ARP Rod Bolts
  • NGK Powerdex AFX Air-Fuel (wideband)

Parts that still need to be ordered:
  • Dejon Powerhouse "Big" Side Mount Innercooler
  • ITM Forged Pistons
  • Fuel Injector Clinic 550cc Injectors
  • Aeromotive AFPR w/Fuel Rail
  • Misc. Lines and Gaskets

All of the parts listed above as well as other weight reduction things like the AC/Heater items still in the car. Cruise control, AC/Heater controls etc., etc. Going to be fabing up an aluminium switch & gauge panel soon as well. Its going to house 90% of the gauges and switches, right in front of the shifter where the AC/Heater & Radio panel use to be.

The 2008 - 2009 Grand Bayou Race Series starts in October. It seems a ways away but with all the work still to start and be finished by then. Its only a few weeks away to me. Target finish date to get on dyno is somewhere in early to mid July. I have 184.1 whp right now and I am looking to at least get to around 280 - 300whp from the new setup. I dont believe that will be too difficult to accomplish.

I want to have it all tuned on the dyno and hopefully get 2 good testing sessions in before the start of the 2008 - 09 series. I will keep everyone posted on the happenings with the car and our progress.

Sounds like a good setup. IDK if you are hellbent on that SMIC, but I got my FMIC from SSAC...for 140 shipped to the house, and its a monster, I don't think I could possibly heatsoak it, but I had to fab some custom pipes for it...check that out, maybe it'll help if you are allowed to run a FMIC

    Good luck

Eddie you're gonna love that Evo III 16g! I know I love mine but I just found out I have a HUGE crack at the wastegate! Lame, but it was amazing. I understand if maybe you'd need a side mount for rules or something but if you want to stay small I'd suggest getting a smaller FMIC. I have a GReddy 18R knock off and its the perfect size, IMO.

Jordan - Thanks man, I'm sure it will be loads better than the ol' T-25 you know? I have done my hoemwork on the front mounts and talked to guys that have raced their DSMs and they are of the belief that the side mount for me and with them was the best way to go. But only time will tell what will happen with the car. I know we will start with the side mount and go from there.

When I was talking to Collier about his sidemount setup when he switched to the "V" style mounted front mount, he said thats when he started to running into problems. If the sidemount was good enough for him to win 2 Super Unlimited championships in NASA, Im sure it will do just fine for me. Thanks for the input on the Greddy 18R innercooler though, I will for sure look into that man.

KPEclipse - Its not that I would not want a front mount at all. but as I said to jordan, i have talked to several road racing DSMers and they had bad overheating issues with front mounts on their cars. They used the "big" sidemounts and it worked like a champ. So I am going with tried and trued setups for right now. Thanks for the sugestion on the front mount as well.

Yeah Eddie sounds like you did your homework pretty well. My coolant temps went down when I got the FMIC but then again I've never road raced either. I'm interested to see how this works out for you next season so keep us updated, like I'm sure you will.

Thanks Jordan. Yeah, I really did allot of research and speaking with other DSM road racers on what they did. What worked and what did not. But yeah, I will keep everyone posted as more parts come in and more parts go on. With loads of pics.

There are Porsches, BMWs, Vettes, Mustangs, Rx7s, STIs. Dont let the horsepower number fool you either. The car is gutted (obviously for racing) and is pretty light. I can keep up with a pretty modded out STIs, Mustangs & some of the Porsches down all the straightaways. Its not always about the power. If you dont have suspension upgrades, brake upgrades etc....and a little knowledge on how to drive, it wouldnt matter if you had 1000 whp. The car did GREAT with what mods I had done to it. Just getting ready fo all the new modifications now !!!

Eddie, with your new setup you should be nearly 300whp. My car just dyno'd at 264awhp on pump gas, 17psi, and a big boost leak causing my A/F's to be in the 9:1 range. (this was also without my alky injection too and all on a T28)

Please post some progress pics man!!!

talonTSIDriver - I am shooting and hoping for right around 300whp as well. With the setup and a good tuning day on the dyno, I dont think that is an out of reach goal.

I'll be doing some interior work on the car this weekend since it is suppose to rain here on Saturday (Sunshine State ???). So no beach probably tomorrow. Basically getting ready to fab up the switch/gauge panel where the climate controls use to be. Went to work in there with a dremmel a few nights ago All the engine work will begin in 1st week in May at the latest. All the parts tapped me out of funds for a few weeks. And the garage for some strange reason wants money for labor ??? Not sure about that stuff

I will snap off some pics tonight of what has been going on in the inside of the car and get them up when I can. Good luck this weekend at Road America man.
