my 2.3 stroker build

well a couple of months back my 7 bolt blew up. it had 180,000 miles and oddly just went boom
. any way i pulled the motor on my car and remover the A/C ect. then dropped it off at IPS motorsports a local performance shop here in columbus.
HOW IT HAPPENED: i was driving down 71s going to HIN with my car when it just blew lots of smoke every light on the dash lit up and end of story.
STATUS: its currently at IPS and is getting a stroker bottom end and a built head(by mistake). i did not intend to rebuild the head but my head was trashed so i bought a 1g head here on dsmtuners a "perfectly good working order race port" head. when i recived it 6 exhaust valves and 1 intake valve were bent and the "race port " looked like it was done with a chisel and a hammer. for 250
. i always buy from the comunity here and sell as well because i strongly believe in it. just cant believe some people take advantage of others like that. well the head is getting ss nitric coated valves and titanium springs and retainers, along with valve seals, big bore or revised lifters and hks 272/272 and hsk cam gears. in addition the bottom end is ross pistons on eagle rods and a 4g64 crank. it needed a new starter, altenator and tension er but that was really it for around the motor.
EXTRA GOODIES: due to the free labor i went ahead and replaced the clutch as well. i went upon recomendation with a company up untill now i had never heard of southbend. i did alittle research and they look really nice. i will do a product review once i have it for a month or so. i got the dxd 6 puck. i also picked up a magnus intake manifold, 75mm bbk, a cop set up , some ss clutch lines, poly motor mounts, and i had my valve cover powder coated wrinkle black. if you guys have any other recomendations let me know.. i will post more on the build and progress as well as pics soon.

You just said Ross Pistons, You did buy "custom" Stroker Ross Pistons right? If not you're going to be in for a big big shock
![]() Sounds like a good idea though I am building a 7 bolt 2.4 stroker. eagle 102mm crank, .040 over bore, arias stroker pistons, eagle rods, full race port head, 280 cams, custom smim, garrett gt37r or gt40r (not sure yet) |

Southbend is a great clutch to go with. I myself have a stage 1 and many other N/T's do as well. I have not personally heard of one bad review about their clutches, business, support...etc. Sounds like a fun setup and we will have to go for another "spirited" drive when its done. ha.
