Blog Title: FWD 14b project
In the beginning, there was Christine. I bought her from a friend that had left the car sitting in a field for years. It cost $300. Within a few hours, we had the car running again (entire turbo inlet pipe had a mouse nest in it). Then we started with the cheap/free mods.

With just an MBC, K&N, o2 dump, and upper/lower IC pipes, the car ran a best of 13.6 @ 108, killing the stock clutch in the process. Then we picked up a used B16G, FMIC, 550s, pump, clutch, 264s, and AFC, and fabbed a full 3" exhaust. This got us to a best of 371whp and 13.1 @ 111.

Fast forward a few years, I bought back my '93 Talon that I had previously sold to buy a house. I decided to go back to a stock appearing setup and see what it could do. With a 14b, Dejon SMIC, HKS 272s, 255/550s, hacked 1G MAF, 5 knob AFC, full 2.5", 2600, and little else I ran a best of 12.12 @ 112.1 on VP 103 unleaded. In '07 the car was totaled.

Skip ahead a couple more years, and I decided to give the 14b another go with a FWD setup this time.

So my last entry was awhile ago (see mod list here), and I mentioned that the next update would have dyno and timeslips so here goes.

First, the dyno. Shortly after my last update I hit the local dynojet. 23-24psi peak boost, falling to 15-16 by 6k. Running on E85. Made 321whp and 336 ft/lbs. Can't complain for a 14b on stock head/cams/intake!

Next up, the drag strip. I headed to Atco in August for the car's maiden voyage. First time ever driving a FWD on slicks (though I've run my Mustang on slicks back in the day). Pulled off fairly consistent mid 12s with a best of 12.47 @ 114.88. I need to get the LSD in and find some stiffer springs, there's alot left on the table with the 60' times. All in all I can't complain though.

Here's a video of one of the passes:

So that's pretty much it for now. I plan to throw on an HTA68 over the winter and see how far I can get on the FWD setup, then convert back to AWD next year and maybe get back on the 14b at that point. I also want to get the 2G head and EVO3 intake on, and figure out what cams I want to try. In the meantime, here are some better pics of the car:

Congrats man! What slicks are you running? I just ordered a set of Hoosier DR's the other day and I've already got the Quaife LSD in. My best trap on the street tires is 113 MPH. I'd be VERY happy with similar times as you!
