Blog Title: FWD 14b project
In the beginning, there was Christine. I bought her from a friend that had left the car sitting in a field for years. It cost $300. Within a few hours, we had the car running again (entire turbo inlet pipe had a mouse nest in it). Then we started with the cheap/free mods.

With just an MBC, K&N, o2 dump, and upper/lower IC pipes, the car ran a best of 13.6 @ 108, killing the stock clutch in the process. Then we picked up a used B16G, FMIC, 550s, pump, clutch, 264s, and AFC, and fabbed a full 3" exhaust. This got us to a best of 371whp and 13.1 @ 111.

Fast forward a few years, I bought back my '93 Talon that I had previously sold to buy a house. I decided to go back to a stock appearing setup and see what it could do. With a 14b, Dejon SMIC, HKS 272s, 255/550s, hacked 1G MAF, 5 knob AFC, full 2.5", 2600, and little else I ran a best of 12.12 @ 112.1 on VP 103 unleaded. In '07 the car was totaled.

Skip ahead a couple more years, and I decided to give the 14b another go with a FWD setup this time.

So my last entry was awhile ago (see mod list here), and I mentioned that the next update would have dyno and timeslips so here goes.

First, the dyno. Shortly after my last update I hit the local dynojet. 23-24psi peak boost, falling to 15-16 by 6k. Running on E85. Made 321whp and 336 ft/lbs. Can't complain for a 14b on stock head/cams/intake!

FWD Build Part 4

Figured it's time for another update even though things have been kinda on standby for the winter. The car is up and running, drove it around a couple times to make sure all the bolts are tight and nothing leaks. Still need to register and add insurance before I can really drive it. Atco re-opens in about a month so I'm going to start buttoning up the loose ends soon.

The exhaust still...

So, after picking up the red '90 Laser project shell, I hit a slight delay that ended up changing my plans for the build. My good friend Tort decided to part out his 700+whp Talon, and I offered to help him in my garage. This meant I had to put the FWD on hold. We got his car torn down, and his original intent was to hold onto the shell in case he ever decided to do another build later.

FWD 14b project "Christine" Pt 2

Posted 06-11-2010 at 08:17 PM by Steve93Talon (FWD 14b project)

So recently I come across this FWD '90 Laser shell, with the block, head, and trans sitting in the trunk for $300 (same price I got Christine for). I decided to pick up where I left off and go for a light FWD 14b setup. I'm also going to try and test some things out along the way, such as 1G head/intake vs 2G head/EVO3 intake. I'd also like to try a couple types of cams with the 14b like 264s &...
