So its been a while since my last post. I have just been waiting on machining and all the little loose ends to come together. I started building everything this week and I am pull the old motor out tomorrow. I have only had one problem so far so I hope it stays that way. The wrist pin bushing eagle sent me were for 6 bolts so I had to get the new bushing honed out for 7 bolt (22mm) wrist pins....

Well it's been about 6 months, so I thought I better post an update on what's been going on with the never-ending project (but that's why we love 'em ).
The car was running really well after firing it up, and still is. After break-in and a bit of tuning, ECMLink HP and 70-90 estimates put it right around 400 awhp on the e316g, which feels about right. (I plan on getting to a dyno...
Well again, it's been a bit since I have updated. The motor is still being put together. I was hoping it would have been done by now but it isn't. The builder is very anal about clearances and not too familiar with the DSM engine bearings. He has gone through multiple main and rod bearings to get them all within .001 of eachother respectivly. I'm annoyed it's taking so long, but I'm glad everything...
It is possible that production could begin soon if there is enough interest. I know a few of you have PMd me about this in the past so please let me know if you all are in a position to really follow through on it. Hit me up by PM! Thanks!...

By March 2010 I was able to afford the rest of the parts I wanted to drom the motor back in. which included Some urethane mounts, a lightened flywheel, 2100lb clutch pressure plate, with new street clutch disc, and a bunch of other goodies. I should mention that removing my 14b from the stock manifold snapped a few bolts so the hot side of the 14b had to be machined to the tune of $160, I was not...
Just a quick update I got my Rota D2s in today they look badass. I took the SSR decals off and put them away just waiting for the QTPs to throw them on but I know it will look sick. Also I don't know if I ever posted pictures of the engine setup before I took it to the machine shop so here it goes. By the way HUGEEE thanks to Ramel Pratt for letting me borrow his torque plate. Great example of a dsmer....

August 30th 2009 I brought home my first DSM. Purchased in Long Island NY, and towed home 80 miles, or 3.5 hours with the traffic coming over the GW bridge. I was told that the motor had overheated driving home the day the owner bought it, so the head was removed to be sent to the machine shop, where it was determined to badly warped to be usable. I think I got an alright deal considering it was...
So, after a long time of owning what is basically a 1993 TSi AWD shell, I'm finally about to get it running.
I bought the car in 2006'ish for $300 and it came with no interior (another parts car for an interior swap) and did not run. I decided instead of just putting it back together and getting the car running it would be my project car.

The car was first turned on monday night, March 29, 2010.
There were almost aboslutely no problems.
The only problems were problems that had I been given more time to complete, would not have been issues. The battery relocation ended short, at the passengers feet using the stock battery cables. I had already sold the bracket and tie down months before, so for the...

Hello everyone.
We came out to Round 1 Buttonwillow of Redline Time Attack. Unfortunately the spare transmission we were using couldn't take the power for more than the practice day and although we were not able to compete in the race our practice session time was 1.8 seconds faster than the Mod-FWD track record!
Had we repeated that time in the race, we would have...
So I got the Prothane Total Kit and my Tokico Advanced Handling spring/strut combo fully installed tonight, all 24 bushings removed and 4 sleaves re-installed. Also got my SAFC II installed in the center console, I got the SAFC II mounting idea from 2GturboTALON. (Due to the fact that I have a Spyder, keeps prying eyes off of it).

Been busy here is the engine bay prepping to paint and wiring, engtire car is being reiwrd again with another harness, the engine is pulled and being cleaned and a few minor cosmetic things being done. Brake system cleaned up including lines, basically a clean as i can get her. Yes its being painted again some of you know me, got a bit tired of the blue, besides its fun, and I can learn everytime...
Over the weekend we took my Eagle Talon and family down to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for their Midnight Mayhem event. Car ran the same as last time - 11.2 @ 128ish (was hoping for a quicker time) but this time we got an in car video.
In 2009 the One Lap VR-4 struggled with crank case pressure and oil control. We were using the stock 3/8″ fitting off the valve cover feeding to a .75 quart catch can. The stock PCV system was retained with a new PCV valve. We found that after a 4 minute hot lapping session the catch can would fill and blow oil out of the filter all over the engine bay. That meant that we not only risked...

We spent about an hour last night trying to figure out why the alt wasnt charging the system. turns out the previous owner somehow fried the ECU. Swapped my friends 95 eprom out of his 97 gsx into the car and it fired up and read perfect voltage and ran like a dream. I need to get an exact mod list for the car from my builder, its a pretty nice list. Well on to the pictures as was requested, there...

My name is Jim. Im new to the DSM scene, but not new to cars and modding. I recently purchased a 95 GST from a good friend. The clearcoat has faded and needs work but no rust and no dents. Car comes with a freshly rebuilt motor, havent even broken it in yet.
My goal with this car is to have a great car setup for road racing. Ive grown out of the straighline drag scene and am expanding...
I ditched the BC288s and the Crower spring setup as I"m going with K280s from Delta and Kiggly springs and retainers FTW!!! I picked up a EuroExport tool for the springs which worked great. Next week I order the new stuff to get this head loaded back up with the goods. I'm pretty souped though because my QM flywheel is on the way from MAPerformance so I can get everything machined and balanced...

Well I know it has been a while sense I have made an entry here. I have been very busy at work getting ready for a big inspection and studying for my next stripe. Sense my last entry I ended up taking a very productive trip down to phoenix where I was able to pick up an awd transmission, flywheel, starter, t-case, shocks, and some random other odds and ends. So I have started taking the front end...
So I dropped my engine off at Luna Performance yesterday to get diagnosed, and sure enough they found the problem. It had spun both balance shaft bearings, causing damage to the pistons, crankshaft journals, oil pump/front case, and lifters.
My shopping list just got a lot more expensive. I just added:
Wiseco Pistons (.20 over) (not sure 8.3:1 or 9:1 yet)
ACL Race main...

Here's some pics of what I've done since my last post...
Cut my bumper to fit the FMIC, just need to add the chicken wire. Did pretty good for free handing with no lines or tape. I used a dremel and a bunch of cutting blades.
My engine (the block, head, and timing components) is at Luna Performance so they can find out what went wrong with it last time. I've mentioned it before but I lost all compression in 1 cylinder and it was blowing white smoke and making weird noises under throttle, like an electric growl. I know its been sitting for the last 5 years but when I tried to rotate the crank the other day it wouldn't turn....

Today is a great day in Atuca DSM History....
the G4CS is in its home, my DSM
Beginning this blog, I got myself a GM alternator from a junkyard car. It was the newest I could fine with the least amount of miles, there were ALOT of Saturns laying around lol, I'd guess a couple dozen or so.

My car doesn't get treated to a full exterior detail too often.
It could use a clay bar and a good wax, but I need to fix a few dings in the paint first.
I had a guy stop by my car at the car wash and he got all excited when he was the front mount. He started asking all these questions and actually seemed...

Wrapping things up on the GSX. Looking to pull it out maybe next week? hopefully. The weather has been beautiful around here in Wisconsin. So I took the whole week after school to work on my car. Besides the setbacks of homework and my Job. But today I woke up to 30 degree weather and snow again...

I am trying to think back on some of this stuff so bare with me lol It took about a year (Fall of 08 now) with my restricted budget to get all the parts I needed to start building the engine and the bolt ons. I kept it pretty modest. Built the bottem end up (Wisecos on H-beams, BSE) but went easy on the head (SS valves, bronze guides, stock springs/cams). I went with a Big 16G turbo,FMIC, and stock...

I finally finished up the car Tuesday night. It's just taken me a bit to get this posted on here because I've been busy getting back to school and getting caught up on work. I missed Monday and Tuesday and didn't wake up to my alarm Wednesday, so I missed half my classes that day too.

It was the night of October 17, 2007, in a little town about an hour away. A friend of a friend and I worked out a deal on his 91 Talon TSi AWD 5-spd. The car had been sitting at his parent's barn for almost a year and the guy before him haggered the car for two years. He said it had overheating problems... no biggie, I had an engine in the garage that was building for my FWD. The car cosmetically...
My engine arrived today after a 2,000 mile trip across the country. Luckily it was still in one piece after the journey. There was some miscommunication with the shipper but everything was straightened out and I was able to bring it home. Once I got it to my house I got it up on the hoist and unwrapped. After that, I mounted it to the stand and lowered everything the ground. I pulled off the manifolds,...
Got the rest of my fuel setup in so now I can switch back to the engine bay. At this point my focus is to get my hands on a twin disk so the engine can go in and then it's home stretch. It's getting close to nice weather too. At this point I know everything except Trans/transfercase will be 100% done before the shootout but I don't know if I will be able to spring $4k by then We'll see what happens....

Today I would like to announce some changes in our car sponsors for 2010. It is both with a heavy heart and excitement that I announce the replacement of my long time sponsor and friend, KBR Performance. Karlo at KBR has supported the car from the land speed days when nobody believed in it and has been such a huge part of it’s achievements. I have to express sincere gratitude for those years....

I got a good bit done tonight.
The head is finally back together.
And on the block.
I just threw one of the valve covers I pulled from the junkyard on it for now. I'll put the freshly painted on one when I'm done messing with tools and oil.

Sorry, no pictures. There really isn't anything to look at.
I didn't get much done today or tonight. I went and got the new valve stem seals and intake manifold gasket ordered. I finished the electrical stuff too except for a couple terminals on the grounding straps.
I also cleaned all the intercooler pipes out. I'll get that back on later today. Wires also got zip tied...

My engine blew in my 92 Eclipse N/A early this year. It has been sitting in the garage waiting for a warm day to be worked on.
Well, this past week has been just shy of perfect weather. I have been working on pulling the blown engne a little here and there for a couple hours every night between my job and sleeping.
Tonight, I spent 5 or 6 hours in the garage tonight....

For the first time since I bought my car, I'm tempted to set it on fire and enjoy the show.
That tool for installing the keepers just kept giving me problem. First I smashed a brand new valve stem seal (and there are none at any local Advance Auto or Autozone) then this...

To begin I pulled out all of the bolts on the timing side of the engine and put them back in all torqued to spec and using blue loctite. The only bolts that didn't get blue loctite were bolts that got red loctite, like the crank bolt and the oil sprocket nut.
I was told a new ARP crankshaft bolt was on its way, but the vendor kind of dropped off...
