Attacking my cooling problem PART 3

Posted 07-26-2011 at 11:41 AM by LiquidX
Updated 07-26-2011 at 01:06 PM by LiquidX

I cannot believe I’m on my 3rd revision of my setup! For all of you that have missed my other entries, here are the links for both #1 and #2.
Part 1
Part 2

Brief update of why I am now on my 3rd setup. Recently I attempted to get my AC working and unwilling to spend roughly $180 to see if it would work afterwards, I removed it. By doing so I was able to remove the condenser,...

AC? I think not!

Posted 07-20-2011 at 12:39 PM by LiquidX

Back again for another story? Well this tale is about the AC that could not cool.

A long time ago, I once had AC, it was nice while I used it but for the most part, it only came alive to defog my windshield. What a sad boring life for this unit. Longing to please the people in the car, it just could not cool well enough.

Keeping it for a while, it just became worse...

Attacking my cooling problem PART 2

Posted 06-29-2011 at 04:57 PM by LiquidX

Part 1
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/blog...g-problem.html

I received my 9" SPAL fan in the mail yesterday and boy is that thing tiny HAHA!

To get to everything I needed to rip off the old air duct work and damn, that gorilla tape is a monster for grip. It didn't pose too much of a problem getting it off but it did put up a bit...

Attacking my cooling problem

Posted 06-21-2011 at 04:34 PM by LiquidX

I've been dealing with some extremely hot coolant issues. Some days just cruising normally, I'd reach just about 230* and that's with a colder thermostat. My issues are:
1. Running a SINGLE slim fan which was only rated at 900 CFM
2. No DUCTING
3. Large FMIC

The stock fans are rated between 1300-1600 CFM each so I'm trying to get something close to or better....

Wire clean up plus a shitty extra

Posted 05-09-2011 at 11:32 AM by LiquidX

Since I got the car back and had nothing to do, I decided to do some wire "tucking". Not exactly hiding a lot but moving things around. It was going good, cutting the loom, removing tape, re taping and re routing. I was just working on the section of the harness that goes onto the intake manifold.

Here are all of the plugs striped from the harness. Injectors 1-4, AC compressor,...

Pictures and Current News

In my previous entry, I promised to show pictures of when my engine was built and the process it was going through. I finally received them after getting some recent work done.

Either check my profile or read previous entries for engine mods.

Omfg!!!

Posted 06-27-2010 at 09:43 AM by LiquidX

For those of you that have followed my build progress, the long wait is finally over. I got my car back and on the road yesterday evening. All I have to say is WOW, I couldn't remember what it was like to be in a turbo DSM except in Brians (Snowborder714) for a few seconds going down the street.

It has a couple hiccups right now but things are still being worked out and I can't wait...

Build update #3

Posted 05-20-2010 at 11:35 AM by LiquidX
Updated 06-11-2010 at 09:04 AM by LiquidX

Well it's time for another update on my build progress.

Last time it was merely an updated parts list and now I am here to show you some progress that has occurred recently.

It started by receiving a call a couple weeks ago that the bearings from Mitsubishi have finally arrived after much aggravation to both myself and Justin (mechanic). It got to the point that he...

Valve Cover Shaving

Posted 05-12-2010 at 05:46 PM by LiquidX
Updated 08-28-2010 at 06:18 AM by LiquidX

I went and decided to do some valve cover shaving today, well over a couple days as I had to wait to have my Dremel battery charge up.

The cover used was a "Mitsubishi" labeled cover but without the Mitsubishi logo in the upper left corner. It took some thought on what I wanted to do but ultimately decided to do a partial shave and keep the words "Mitsubishi" on it.

Update 2.5 of my long wait

Posted 04-08-2010 at 05:30 PM by LiquidX

Well again, it's been a bit since I have updated. The motor is still being put together. I was hoping it would have been done by now but it isn't. The builder is very anal about clearances and not too familiar with the DSM engine bearings. He has gone through multiple main and rod bearings to get them all within .001 of eachother respectivly. I'm annoyed it's taking so long, but I'm glad everything...

My Car, My Love, My Depression and Bank Breaker Part Deux

Posted 01-13-2010 at 06:23 PM by LiquidX
Updated 01-27-2010 at 04:18 PM by LiquidX

Alright, it's about time for an update. Last time I posted, I was eagerly awaiting the return of parts from the machine shop. Well, half of them are back. The garage recieved the block back and it was one happy moment for me. That just means it won't be TOO much longer.

My car, my love, my depression and bank breaker

Updated 12-23-2009 at 03:12 PM by LiquidX

I feel like a kid opening the doors on a Christmas calender or for the other religions, lighting the candles.

Here's the story, in fall of 08 my car succumbed to rod knock. During that time I thought I had the worst of luck; after all, the previous year I replaced the turbo and beginning of the year put in a new tranny. Now this happens and I swear it was a curse from Gold's Gym....
