It was recommended that I tell the story of my mudded talon on my blog, I never quite thought about it. But it is a pretty good story.

Quote:
The story of the mudded talon is pretty funny. Every year Team-Trinity (a local DSM group) has a huge DSM meet at George Mason University (GMU). In 2006, I had two DSMs, my wife's 1gb eclipse was more of show car (but still had some power goodies). I spent all Friday detailing her car. It was in better condition then the day I bought it. Finally late that night I finished hers and started on my Talon. I went to bed at around midnight. When I woke up it was too late to finish the car. I looked at a half-cleaned car and I said to my buddy, "What's better then being clean?" My friend jokingly replied "Being dirty." Then, “click” neither of us said anything we both just hopped into the car and headed to the basin. I found a little pool of murky water and just aimed straight for it. The water splashed up over the car. We did that a few times and headed out to the GMU meet. The reaction from the spectators was better then any other DSM meet I been too. The next year we went bigger. I had a friend in construction and they had just leveled an entire neighborhood, he told me it has one road and about 300 acres of dirt. Luckily this time, there was a torrential down pour a few days before. The mud was thick VERY thick. I would go flying around and then hit a soft spot and sink. My buddy had to hook up his truck a few times to pull me out. When he started to pull me out, he would fling even more mud all over my hood and roof. About 20-30 minutes later, he flashes me. So we get back on the hard top and he rolls down his wind and says, "WE GOTTA GO!!!" I said "why?" He said the MP's were coming. I saw the MP SUV on the opposite side of the fence about 5 mintues ago, but I didn't understand why it mattered. Then he told me that this was not his construction site. I went , "WE GOTTA GO!!!" The problem was there was only one road coming in and out the site. However, it was night time and that one road split into two one-way roads with a median. And the median was heavy with foliage, trees and shrubs. We both hauled for the exit. I had to have my window down with my head sticking out so I could see, since my front windshield was covered with mud. We both had our lights off. As we got close to the median, I saw the SUV coming our way. I stomped the clutch and watched him pass us through the median. I saw his tail lights disappear around the bend in the road and we were in the clear. The next day at the meet, I rolled in with my friends truck (95 GMC Sierra 1500), an '03 Cobra making 500 lbs/ft torque and a 06 GTO with 434 rwhp. No one cared about them. As soon as I parked, I was surrounded by lots of people and they were just clicking away pics of my car, when I dynoed my car there (SBR brought a free dyno) I pulled a whopping 140 awhp @ 19 psi, due to a hole in the FMIC from a rock I hit at the construction site.
From then on, I am referred to "the guy with the mudded talon." At least, when I meet people and I introduce myself as "laserspeeddemon" they don't know who I am until I say "I'm the one with the mudded talon." They all say "Ooooooooooh, that's YOU!"

That's pretty funny, I always wondered why your car was so dirty. I thought you were into rally racing or something .

Awesome story bro haha! Question, how did you get 140 awhp? Isn't a stock talon around 180 to the wheels?

He said there was a hole in his front mount, from a rock hitting it while he was driving through the construction site.

Awesome story! Great way of being different!! I also thought that you were in a rally race competition
Thats awesome! Then people will think that you are rally race pro that has won numerous races around the word
To be honest, that picture looks great. The mud doesn't look real. I know it is but it looks like its been photo shot. Its just evenly spread through out the hole body.
    Nice talon

^^ I am guessing because those are rotating parts. So at speed (as in getting to the meet) it all comes flinging off.

Great story man. I myself would never do that to mine.

The mud is not evenly spread. It's just the angel. I'll see if I can find a pic someone else took that shows almost the rear 1/4 has little/no mud. The mud came off the wheels while dirving, they are still dirty just not like the rest of the car.

On a side note, I tried my hand at MANY discplines of racing. My early years were contributed to drag racing (see gallery). Then I moved on to a road racing. I have one of the very few turbo DSMs that has traveled the roads of the Nürburgring, let alone AWD ones. I, also drove the Hockenhiemring, the track where the JUN Lemon EVO V destroyed the competition in drifting and was a mere 7 seconds from the fastest time attack car. Proving that a drifting car can keep up with a grip car. I did little snow driving in Germany, because my car was falling apart almost all the time, it seemed like. When I got back to the states, I started doing some dirty driving. I fell in love. I love the sideways controlled driving that I could make the car do. I teetered on keeping a street car or a dedicated competition car. I finally decided that I had put over $5000 in to a car with 0 return. So it was time to do something with it. Early last year, I brought the car down and started to tear into it. Fixing EVERY little thing that I could find wrong with the car, but I guess God had other plans and I got pulled back into the Army for one final Hoorah!

^^Hes running 2 bov's cause he has a home made intercooler pipings. As you can see, theres no vacuum line connected so it will never open.

cool story sean,LOL you spent all your time cleaning it up, then you go mudding.ROFL

I always wanted to do that but theres no place here where i know of.

Yes that is two BOVs, in germany the cost to have custom piping made was REDICULOUS. So I made it out whatever I could. The 1g elbow was the perfect bend for that section so that's what I used. I never go around to fixing it until I took it down. It worked great for about 3 years.

Hmmm... That second pic with "AWD RULES" reminds me of another one. A Talon, most likely yours come to think of it, with AWD rules written in mud nose to nose with a domestic; I want to say mustang. Can't find it now for the life of me.

Haha, I did a very similar thing w/ my talon. There were new neighborhoods being built in the area and a friend and I tore up the freshly leveled ground. However, these properties were on different elevations, aka, jumps...

I've also taken my talon to the Oceano dunes (Pismo Beach, where they filmed the crabs part of Pirates 3) countless times, the response from truck guys is PRICELESS.

Hey I was there! At the 4th Annual GMU DSM meet In 2006. The pics where you had 'AWD RULES" in the mud. I rode up there with Keith (92awddsm) and several others. That was just a month or two before I moved across the country to where I am now. It's a small world.

my friend had two BOVs and his car was really slow when shifting between gears because it let so much boost out. Was that the case with yours? My friends had both BOVs beside each other close to the intake. When i seen that you put the bov close to the turbo, i was like Oh cool, thats good for throttle response, then i seen your other one and was like.
