Posted 08-03-2008 at 08:04 PM by kwbunn
I've decided to take the stock motor out of the car - the transmission needs to be rebuilt, and I need to cannibalize some parts from the 7-bolt 4G63 that's in the car now for my 4G64T build. Here's a couple of pictures before I started to work on it, sort of a "before" set. As you can see, it's a bone stock 4G63T. There's a K&N filter element and some Magnacores on it, but they don't...

Well, it's been a while since my last update. DSMTuners had made it so you had to be a "Proven Member" to post blog entries, so I was locked out for a while. But I've managed to contribute to the community a bit, and get my blog posting status back. Yay me!

Since my last blog entry, I got the block back from Jackson Auto Machine, and it's beautiful. It's quite nice and clean....

Engine Build Part 4: JDM 4G63 GVR4 pics

Here's a couple pictures of the JDM 4G63 GVR4 donor motor. I'm going to use just about the entire top end- intake manifold, throttle body, head, valve cover, etc. The motor came from a GVR4 automatic, and therefore has 450cc injectors and a 13G.

You might ask me why I went and bought a complete JDM 4G63. That's easy. I needed all the OEM parts necessary to make the dual runner manifold...

Engine Build Part 3: Oil Squirter Connundrum

Posted 11-21-2007 at 06:33 PM by kwbunn

Well, turns out that Jackson can't put oil squriters into the block. If you look at the block and the closeup, you'll see that there's a mount for the squirters in every cylinder except #4. If you're having a difficult time, look closely for the little tabs with holes in the block. Jackson says instead of putting the oilers in, they're gong to machine the rods to provide essentially the same effect....
