Engine Build Part 7: Pulling the Stock Motor

Posted 08-03-2008 at 08:04 PM by kwbunn
I've decided to take the stock motor out of the car - the transmission needs to be rebuilt, and I need to cannibalize some parts from the 7-bolt 4G63 that's in the car now for my 4G64T build. Here's a couple of pictures before I started to work on it, sort of a "before" set. As you can see, it's a bone stock 4G63T. There's a K&N filter element and some Magnacores on it, but they don't...

I got a pretty good deal on them, too. Here's a couple pictures. I particularly like the sweet covers that come with them. You can see one of the covers on the wheel that's still in the box. That bronze color will...

To me, it seems that too many people are focused on horsepower more than chassis mods. That's a shame, because it stands to reason that if you build a car to go real fast, you might want to make it stop real fast, too. Brakes are just part of the equation, though. There's wheels, tires, struts, springs, and a host of other items. Handling is a big deal.

Here are the quick details:...
