And he's back - from outer space...

Posted 10-13-2008 at 03:49 PM by KPEclipse
Well after the nightmare all summer, my 2g is back.

I had scooped it up from JNZ about 2 weeks ago, but couldn't really drive, as my speedometer sensor was broken. I ordered a new one, but didn't know that the FWD shaft was shorter than the AWD shaft...thus, when I got to jnz with a AWD speed sensor, I got and well you should just take it now, and hook the speedo sensor when you get one. Well, I ordered the speedo sensor, came today, so you can be sure I rushed to put it on, I havent been able to take the car past 3850 for 2 weeks!

About an hour with the speedo sensor and BADABING. I remounted the turbotimer, and cut my dual pillar in half, since I'll no longer be needing the narrowband o2, and just today, screwed two self threading screws into the A pillar, with just the now single gauge(Boost). I like it alot better.

The Big16g pulls. HARD. I chirped third today, and this car NEVER chirped third before. I have no idea how much tourque it takes to do that, but it happened. I want to run it @ 23psi, because of my HUGE front mount, but I dont think my 550's will deliver enough fuel for that. 20psi pulled what felt like 25% harder than my 14b. Although you may think I'm bsing, I can definately tell the difference in spool up. My 14b it felt like heated up like a t25, it just was on steroids up top. This heats up slower than a 14b, but when its spooled its like the 14b plus some more sh!t in the sack. I'm by no means complaining, just stating facts.

I'm going to go to a friends house to BLT, because it was breaking up a little bit, and I'm sure it wasnt fuel cut, and since I just put this car back together, and didnt do a BLT, im sure theres a couple that once they get addressed, this thing will pull like a raped ape.

It's a shame that I won't really get to enjoy this setup (although there are a few nice weeks/weekends left) since it's already starting to get cold, and I've already started to build my next turbo setup, which, although it isnt a HUGE secret, I'd rather not divulge until its on, I like a LITTLE exclusivity

The only negative in this column is as I was ripping around town, setting boost and fiddling with the Type S, I kinda figured I'm going to need an AFPr. I kinda wanted to stay away from fiddling with the fuel pressure, but it looks like not only do I need the pump rewired, but I need an FPR. All this boost, and if I plan to upgrade again, its going to be starved if I don't turn the fuel pressure up. And then if I do that, (plus I have a couple dsmtuners members have been on my back about this next thing, idk if I want to be convinced or not yet lol) I might as well do water injection. Better mpg, higher octane rating, ahh jeez. I love boost, right?

In the works for the winter then spring -
2gb wheels, stripped and powdercoated(bronze or black, any suggestions, and why?)
New turbo setup
Bigger injectors(like 880s, hopefully I won't have to go any bigger EVER again)
New FMIC
Catch can(I hope I can buy one of those $20 numbers and fab it up to work)
CF Hood (if I can find one for less that a billion dollars)

and
Last but not least

The part that I swore I'd save until the day that I was done modding the power mods

SUSPENSION (H&Rs + Illuminas(or AGX's)

I just looked back @ the I'm done with dsms blog, and for every one that looked @ it, responded in a positive manner, and was just there (although only virtually) thanks guys!

Now with my girl back on the road, I've never been happier. Hopefully, I get some parts sold, since I have a whole bunch of goodies in the basement that I ended up not using, and I can get some stuff on, and finish the car. Get the paint touched up, and just drive around, blowing domestics and other imports out the water, and looking good doing it.

Looks like I'm DSM for life!!

About time. You coming to the meet this Saturday? You better. Or I'll shank you. And take your car.

Some tips: Use an air compressor filter for catch cans. They work dandy. I have two. Which wheels are you looking at? The mesh style? Or the 5 spokes? If you want big injectors, get 1050. They'll last you for life. I have 850ccs and I think I might go bigger.

Saturday - we'll see. My girl and I are supposed to be getting my 1000pt ball and retired jersey framed and all that nonsense and taking pictures with it so idk what the hell the deal is with that.

Hm. Wen its time for catch cans, I'll def be in touch.
I already have the 2g 5spokes...any suggestions on colors? My Valve cover was recently powdercoated and im in LOVE with the color.

1050...I use the dsmchip...I gotta see if Jeff can tune them, I think 1000's the biggest I can go

Yeah slip, we talked about this turbo setup, but I didn't talk to you too much about water injection. you told me I should do it along with another member but you know how I get. The other guy suggested PRE TURBO injection...you know I shudder at the idea.

16g...does it rip or is it JUST 16g? know what i mean lol

Water injection would be beast no matter what setup you use it with as long as it tuned - you know I'm an advocate of it. Oh by the way I'm pickin up my new car this week so soon we'll be able to run it and I can see how fast your car REALLY is lol..

Seems like everybody is running 20+ psi nowadays, can't wait to run that much boost

You need to hop off that chip bandwagon too and get you dsmlink. The stay selling it for 600 with the ecu and all on teh link forums all the time. Best investment you'll ever make no more getting chips burned and all that shit.

And that pre turbo injection is for the birds. If you really want to do two spots do right after the turbo and do right after the IC and then right at the tb but I think one at the tb with a good IC is plenty unless you do what I said I was for IC then you really on top.

I think that's overkill. You could possibly inject way too much water in. One at the tb elbow is fine.

You cant inject water before the intercooler you will flood your cylinders.. jeez I thought everyone on tuners knew that!! If the water goes thru the intercooler it will de-atomize!!

And yes I agree Get DSM-LINK Chips do not tune the car properly, put it on a Dyno with a wideband.

Cool, I remember my friend Mikes GST with the b16g at 20psi started chirping 3rd. Felt decent on the highway, though he was slow from 1st and 2nd.

Water injection is good, if you can get E85 local that would be even better, but soon you will start to find out your traciton limitations...

well fwdeclipse runs the chip and made 11 second power with an e3...hows THAT for tuning and no dsmlink?

yeah 1st isnt the same as it was with a 14b, but the car def chirps second and third...and this is stock cams...

put the car on the dyno, you think it's cool chirping 3rd - you might be able to spin third with the car tuned out making more power.

i will once i upgrade, it doesnt make sense to dynotune a setup that won't be on the car much longer.

i sent you a pic today j...you see what I mean?
when I get the whole turbo kit pieced together, and then the chip for that, i'll dyno it and see what it does, then compare to what similar setups are running and see what some guys on here think

2g 5 spokes

i have the rims and i painted them bronze didnt get them powder coated tho. they look pretty damn good on a 1g gsx, i would go for the bronze. i think it will look hot with the silver, but hey thats just me.

yeah - I gotta get the $ together for the other two wheels and send it out.
im doing so many things @ once, I suck.

Needless to say, I'm in the middle of building a new turbo setup, trying to pay for these wheels, and take care of an oil leak, as well as I need new wires for my car.

My car has a plethora of little problems, which I plan to fix soon as well.
