RMsolo Summer Series Event #11

Posted 09-12-2008 at 01:04 AM by Jordanbutter
Well I'm getting down to it, the second to last event of the season. Of course since its the last event before Solo Nationals all that fast people showed up to practice. It was exciting to see a few people that have a legitimate chance at winning nats this year. However having all these scary fast raw times that came in faster than mine really brought down my event points. However it was still my 3rd highest of the season.

The course was a great use of space, very fast and fun and had an interesting slalom using three cones instead of just one to make you wait instead of just cut in right behind the cone. It started out with a 90* left turn to a medium sweeper right which forces you to tuck on the inside of the slalom cone. On my first run I got to the end of the slalom and spun the car because the tires were pretty cold. Which was a reoccuring theme for the day. Anyway, then there was a fairly tight 180* into a straight section to another 180* then a series of 4 offsets with an open ended 90* left turn. A little jog left and back right a nice left turn into the slalom with the extra cones. I was a bit off every single run but the last was the closest. Finally a 70* left turn over finish.

My first run was a 53.579 with the spin, second was 45.089, third the tires were actually cold on the driver side (in the shade), since we had such a huge group running in my heat so i slid to the outside of the slalom cone and DNF'd, The last one was the best at 44.733. Oddly enough I didn't hit any cones on any runs, probably why I didn't have a very fast day. I also found I ran the first two runs down 5lbs of boost because I forgot to change the boost setting.

The final event of the season is coming up after Solo Nationals so hopefully I'll be able to get some more expirenced drivers to ride with me and help me figure out what I'm doing wrong and to help push me a bit further. Here goes nothing.
