She;s alive. sorta

Posted 06-02-2008 at 10:59 PM by ilikespeeding
Over the last two weeks, I've put the car back together. I've got new stainless steel -8an oil lines to a remounted oil cooler. I've trimed my bumper cover to fit the intercooler. They look amazing, the pipes stick through the bumper like an evo. I've added a coil on plug setup that I bought locally for $160 shipped. I've finished up my -6an fuel setup. I've also thrown in NGK BPR8ES plugs.

Tomorrow I'm finishing up the title transfer and putting the pipes and fittings on. After that, I'm going to turn the key for the first time in a year and a half. Mentally, I keep going over every step to make sure that I've done everything right. They are tons of people here that have so much more experience than me at an even younger age which amazes me. Not to ring my own bell, but I feel crazy being able to do this. I started getting intrested in cars when I was 16. At that point, I couldn't even drive a manual or install an intake. Since then, I've owned 9 cars and worked at a dealership. Tomorrow is the culmination of the thousands of hours of reading and learning this site has provided for me since 2006.

I ran through ECU+ with my laptop and came out with good readings on the IAT and CTS, afterwards I adjusted my TPS to a perfect .5 volts. Luckly, the car was pretty low on gas, so I'm going to put a few gallons of premium for testing.

Afterward, I hope to upgrade my radiator cap then tires. Then injectors and it's dynojet time. I'll post back then. Keep an eye out for middle to end of the month.

Good luck, man! The first start-up is always a little nerve racking, especially when you are aware of it the night before.

Thats awesome man. I know the feeling, I've been doing my nightmare of a 6bolt swap the last 3+ months, and after these last few assorted parts, I plan to start her up Saturday afternoon. I'm already nervous about keying on, but I don't know. Good luck with it, and make sure that you also step back and are proud of what you have done...5 years ago when I first got this car, I didn't know what the timing belt even did...now, it takes me 15 minutes to install with vicegrips...

Note for everyone. Before cranking a project car, ensure that fuel fittings are tightened. At $4 per gallon, I cant afford to go dumping 3 gallons of gas all over my garage.
