Blog Title: My $750 95 TSi AWD......Progress thread...
I lost my 95 GS-T last year due to my own stupidity and have been fiending for a DSM ever since. I found this car over a year later and It was retarded cheap so i bought it immediately. I was looking for this exact setup for 4 months and kept missing out on them. It had been sitting for over 2 years. I had seen it many times but never thought it was the one......

Picked it up for $750 with a blown clutch and needing a T/C. came with a BUNCH of spare parts like 2 heads and some old t-25's and MSD DIS-2. guy needed everything GONE. 149K and ran strong. 3rd head, original everything else. owner had it from 40K-when i bought it. Arizona & Virginia car most of its life.

1995 Talon TSi AWD 5-speed. Leather, ABS, EPROM, sunroof, INFINITY 6-DISC stereo with WORKING Pioneer 6-disc changer in the back with the cradle for it. Everything but LSD rear. ALL original body panels, all with DSM sticker. Original paint. No accidents. I love time capsule cars

Picked it up 26 June 2010.

I realize this car was basically a GIFT, and I will treat it as such. I get a do-over

Watch as I take this car from white swirly wheeled 90's car to my clean ass talon

yeah, this sucker almost got the best of me...I gave up twice.

heres what has happened since Sept 11, 2011 when she gave up the ghost on me. (bear with me I'm exited.....so I typed it alllll out, punctuation nazi's beware :P)

255 miles and 5,500RPM WOT into my 16g tuning the BS says bye bye...it ripped into two separate sections and one part launched into the timing belt area....throwing kevlar and rubber all over, stretching the belt and making the intake cam skip....badly....but saved the exhaust side. The belt did its job the best it could, it stayed on at least! The HKS 272 intake was gouged by the valve on the lobes in cyl 1, some rocker rollers were cracked in HALF. All of the intake rockers went off like hot popcorn under the valve cover. Instant shutoff.

Pistons were all hit. Head is in an unsure state.

.....sooooo, I get another head for $100 complete...swap my lifters & cams over and install it using a new OEM timing belt & head gasket. I cleaned up the pistons where the valves gougd em with a dremel, good enough....BS belt.....what balance shaft belt? that shaft can SIT in there till kingdom come. Screw doing this the "correct way" and using the belt. I cannot at this time do a BS delete, so I'm running it at the urging of my buddy....without one. He's been doing it for 5 years, so will I. I spent $2,500 doing a 16G upgrade/timing belt and it failed, so now it's cheap cheap mods.

get it all together that day...start it up....it works!!!! hot damn! topped off fluids and shut it off. restarted, ?! 200rpms and dies...CEL.....YUP, CAS circuit malfunction.

I give up....I throw the keys and kick the car. DUN SON. car just won. I, awesomely, have a 1995....and that NEW OEM CAS just died. It's under the timing belt......nope, NOT another TB job (at this point its cake, even with no tensioner tool, but STILL).

It takes me 3 weeks to start looking into what I can do. I was about to part it out. Seriously. I was distraught. THEN, I learn about the emissions BS, the 95-96 gear up for OBD2...and those 2 hallman effect sensors. then I find the !g sensors work in my car with link making it even EASIER. Ok BAM, got it. I'm going to a 1G CAS! cake. easy.

I pick up 2 1g green tops for $40 SHIPPED from a tooner. nice guy too. went to get the harness.....and um...$75 for a 2-1 harness....nope, I'm not doin' the "right way" this time, I'm making one for free.

my buddy hooks me up with a JDM plug $ pigtail. wiring colors match perfectly. I grabbed the items I needed from the shop & made my harness for frweee.

installed that, swapped plug wires, and didnt even need to do any ECU repinning. good to go, battery was dead so we jumped it, and bam started right up.

SUCCESS!!!!!! u have no idea how bad I needed this to work.

Adjusted base timing quickly...no light, just watched the DSMlink log....i can only get it to go as low as 9-11 deg @ idle. I am looking into this more but it seems this is ok. car idles FINE, 850-900, A/Fr is good, timing went to 10deg WOT so it has to be close enough as I was @ around 10deg last time when the belt went. AirfloperREV & stft's are good, all looks good. I am gonna do some tweaking tomorrow.

I have some knock down below 3K part throttle. I assume this is phantom knock stuff as it does it part or full throttle of and on. I turned KS off below 3100 & 30% throttle. I still have some blips form the CEL for knock but I have to retune it all out since i went to a 264/272 combo now.

I washer her up and will be driving it for the week to check it all out. the head was sitting and the valve seals are a little worn so I get some smoke but its doing well.

here it was after we got finished with it, rockin the winter swirlies! sorry I'm all type-crazy, I'm just THRILLED to get my ZEN back.
