Blog Title: My $750 95 TSi AWD......Progress thread...
I lost my 95 GS-T last year due to my own stupidity and have been fiending for a DSM ever since. I found this car over a year later and It was retarded cheap so i bought it immediately. I was looking for this exact setup for 4 months and kept missing out on them. It had been sitting for over 2 years. I had seen it many times but never thought it was the one......

Picked it up for $750 with a blown clutch and needing a T/C. came with a BUNCH of spare parts like 2 heads and some old t-25's and MSD DIS-2. guy needed everything GONE. 149K and ran strong. 3rd head, original everything else. owner had it from 40K-when i bought it. Arizona & Virginia car most of its life.

1995 Talon TSi AWD 5-speed. Leather, ABS, EPROM, sunroof, INFINITY 6-DISC stereo with WORKING Pioneer 6-disc changer in the back with the cradle for it. Everything but LSD rear. ALL original body panels, all with DSM sticker. Original paint. No accidents. I love time capsule cars

Picked it up 26 June 2010.

I realize this car was basically a GIFT, and I will treat it as such. I get a do-over

Watch as I take this car from white swirly wheeled 90's car to my clean ass talon

Well, the Hurricane gave us the perfect time to knock this out. Me and My DSM buddy wo works at a local shop started yesterday @ 6:30PM -11:00PM. Came back from 7:30AM-6:30PM today and finished it up. All that is left is the 255 Wally Fuel Pump to be dropped in and the bumper fitted. simple task.

1hr 45min later we had this:

AC Belt wasn't even on the car when I got it.....so we decided to pull the AC out completely.....

BUTTER smooth cylinder walls on all 4. Still cross-hatched from the factory with 160K on it. sooo happpy!!!

FULLY torn down here:

RE-INSTALL:

ARP & OEM Gasket.

Fresh redone head with HKS 272s:

NEW Gates Blue Belts, all 3 idlers, tensioners, Front main seal:

FP Race Mani, FP Feed from head line, VRSF FMIC J-Pipe, Megan/eBay Recirc O2, E316G (fresh 0 miles):

SHORT route!

Finished engine bay, Paint needs to be cleaned and strut bar re-mounted. REMOVED the engine hoist brackets for a much cleaner look. My buddy found some vac line issues from the former owner when he replaced the head. everything is correct now.

Awaiting a new CPS. Idles GREAT, revs free, but upon restarting I get a misfiring engine and a P0340 Cam Position Sensor. I had to use a slightly used one and I guess it went bad on me! Hopefully this wednesday I will have it fixed. It was PARKED into the spot, not towed! not bad for less than two days time

i just vented it last week to see what would happen, and no ill effects. just a lil rich when shifting for a split second. I will most likely recirc it again for when I get it tuned so I don't have any issues. the car was running for 20 min and went from closed to open loop and sounded absolutely amazing. the lifters calmed down, the idle found 800-1000-ish RPM's, idle started to get nice and 272 lopey, sounds so good! once the sensor is replaced I will be getting a street tune by KP tuning in Philly. Karl is the best! Oh, Link is awesome. I did the Global, dead time and Usec stuff for the 750's and it set em up wonderfully. soooo nice

I had problems with the VRSF mounting bolts being to thick also. I purchased thinner ones and they ended up breaking apart the fog light mounting hole, so my fmic is currently zip tied but is holding strong. But your car looks great what a great find! I'm jealous

yeah, I actually found bolts from a Ford the fuel rail uses or something, they are very long. worked well. I went till the bushings smashed a lil bit and I left it at that. I would like to drill 2 more holes and use big self tappers and reall secure it on there.

thanks man, I'm trying to do this one cleanly

dude, I've had the 2g kit since the group buy special around X-mas . I've been building up parts on a shelf since last year. I jumped on em when the last batch came in stock cause I knew they would go fast!

Can't wait to get the sensor in friday! I picked up an OEM one today for $78.

I just picked up the VRSF short route kit as well. I have a 6-bolt swap in my 2G but wanted to ask, did you have any issues installing the TB elbow from the VRSF kit? I can't even get a nut/bolt onto the lower front post from the intake mani.

nope, it was easy. i loosely put the other 2 bolts and nut on loose and then tighten the lower front nut down first as it will hit the pipe if you don't. it's just like the dejon tool one I had. its tight in there.

Car is running like butter! my intake timing wheel had a bent corner and the sensor wasnt OEM. swapped that out, and installed the 255 wally.

My AEM wideband sensor appears to be headed south. lots of 14.5-15.5 goin on, with no leannon decel, and 14.5 on WOT when i checked it. I'm pulling my almost new one from my Focus SVT tomorrow morning and seeing what's up.

    it.sounds.amazing.

I had a P0300 misfire code. I took a log and will be on ECMtuning to figure out what I need to tweak to get it to run better A/Fr. my AEM is acting kooky.

I'll update when I get the bumper on and then again when it's tuned. No rush, baby steps

The fmic made the car run hotter during tuning. it almost overheated on me while i was doing cool down LTFT idling. got to 255deg. CEL came one and i didn't compute it was for coolant temp.

I learned after this to click the "fans max on" toggle and after that it wouldn't go over 210deg. before it was 226 cruising from the FMIC blocking airflow.

i got it cooled down right away. I was doing WOT pulls yesterday, doing well, 2500-6200rpm pulls. i was taking my time, doing one pull at a time.

I was on the highway and the last pull was doing great, no knock, timing at 10deg max, 10.5afr, and the car just lost ALL power @ around 5,500. I HAD a log of it but i clicked "new log" instead of "save" and it was lost. i did review it twice and everything was in check. i had LTFT's at 0.6 & -0.6, almost perfect, Airflow per rev @ .29, base timing @ 5%. it looked like my other logs. it just lost power and shutoff.

NO compression in all 4 cylinders, NO oil leaks, coolant, nothing on the road. Looks like timing jumped. car is sitting and not sure on the future of it. al funds were spend for the build. blah
