Blog Title: My DSM cronical
Well I thought this would be cool to start as a daily record of what is going on with my car. I was'nt really sure about it until I had other members start asking me about mods I had previously done and realized you can't understand the future without first learning about the past.

I work on it just about everyday and have been really altering it to the point where it is no longer a daily driver anymore and just a "money pit" as my wife calls it. If she only knew..... My goal is a somewhat stock appearing/but you know its faster than stock look. I'm not fanatacial about this as you can tell by the 19" rims. I really don't care if there to heavy, I just like the way they look on the car.I just want a fun car that looks good and can scare the shit out of my neihbor with the Z06 vette.

I do almost all of my own fabrication work within reason just out of a sense of pride by doing it myself. So far I have tought myself how to do TIG/MIG welding on a novice scale and limit myself to parts that if they break will not cause my death or total destruction of the car. I also learned how to do Composite work on a novice scale also and plan on doing alot more. I've come to really enjoy making, and designing pieces for the car now.

So I would like to start out as to the current state of the car and go from there. I've gotten to the point were I don't like to leave anything the way it was designed to be and come up with these crazy ideas for parts while I dream at night about rainbows and teddy bears.

Crap gotta get ready for work finish this tonight.

Eclipse build entry #10

Posted 10-30-2010 at 09:12 PM by gixrman (My DSM cronical)

So I get these ideas about stuff I would like to make for my car. I set out a plan, supplys, and a time line.
It then goes south. I either change my mind make something and don't like it, so I have to start all over again and it never ends. I've got some serious ADD going on here.

So I removed my A/C hid my fan control in the cup holder, went crazy with guages, switchs and...

Fixing a old PITA

Posted 11-23-2009 at 11:06 AM by gixrman (My DSM cronical)

Every time I take my front clip on and off it drives me nuts getting to the screws that hold it on. I was down to the four screws in each corner which were still driving me crazy. So I came up with this idea. Its now takes me about 10 minutes to which include the mud flaps, but no popping the side markers out anymore. I also installed Dusz fasteners on the mud flaps for fast removal. Oh...

Building a front splitter

Posted 12-04-2007 at 08:26 AM by gixrman (My DSM cronical)

Since my last post I have been busy trying to work out some bugs on the car. I ended up replacing the battery after having it tested and it was smoked. I also picked up a battery tender after having to replace the battery each spring in my motorcycle so one for the car was next. I don't drive the car everyday and it just kills my battery. I also discovered that my laptop battery is smoked after trying...

slapping it together

Posted 11-29-2007 at 06:10 PM by gixrman (My DSM cronical)

Well it turned out good but not as good as I wanted. On tuesday morning I finished up with the hood pins and started installing the nose. I had some real fitment issues and after fighting with it for about an hour I realized that the air dam that I created was pushing the nose away from the car and not allowing me to bolt up the sides. So I had to trim about 1/2" off and was pissed if...

slow progress

Posted 11-25-2007 at 08:15 AM by gixrman (My DSM cronical)

Well the wife is sick this morning so my time spent working on the car was cut short. I did make some progress with the front nose. I was thinking that since the FG is thin were it meets with the IC that it may be damaged from vibration so I took some windshield washer hose and split it down the middle and glue'd it on the lip to soften any contact with the IC.

clear coat day

Posted 11-24-2007 at 08:13 AM by gixrman (My DSM cronical)

Well today I had a little setback the fiberglass that I used on the inside of the nose started to seperate from the ABS. I had to really cut the ABS up for the FG to have something to grab onto, not really sure if this is going to work. I used FG hair this time and spread it out more. After that I wet sanded the nose with 2000 grit and layed on 4 coats of clear. It looks really good and hopefully...

Posted 11-23-2007 at 08:09 AM by gixrman (My DSM cronical)

Well since my wife had to goto work at the butt crack of dawn this morning (working retail sucks) I got up early with her and busted ass on getting things done to the car. I took more pics of things I have installed. So today I finished up wiring my GM3bar were the MDP and a GM IAT sensor which I wired into the stock IAT wire that used to go to the gmMAST. Fired up DSMLINK and checked if they were...

Posted 11-22-2007 at 08:06 AM by gixrman (My DSM cronical)

did'nt get to much done today. One coat of paint on the front nose and since I rushed it the paint is screwed up in a couple of sections that I will have to resand and paint again. I've included a couple of pictures of were I biult up the front dam to meet the IC. I finished wiring up the W/I that I relocated to were the old stock I/C used to be.
