So I woke up this morning at like 7 in the morning to my aunt screaming for us to get up. I'm in a daze so I'm like whatever but I heard something about my grandma. Now don't get me wrong, I love her wholly but she's been in the hospital more times than I can count and she always comes out fine. I figured she must have had another usual plethora of problems. I grudgingly get out of bed really tired since I was up all night till 5 playing DiRT. I get ready and drive my mom and aunt out to NYC. I'm just wondering what it is this time.

My aunt is trying to figure out what's going on and what hospital she's been taken to. Somewhere along the way, my aunt gets the phone call from the nurse aid who takes care of my grandma and all I hear in the back is "WHAT?!" and then just sobs. At that point something equivalent to a knife went right through my heart. This wasn't the usual time where she fell, got sick, had internal organ problems, etc etc. No, this time it was the real deal. Death wrote the ticket and cashed it in.

Of course I'm just thinking "what..." and the tears soon start coming. But it quickly turns to anger. Of all the times in the year, why ####ing Christmas. The one time where everyone gets together and enjoy the time. It was absolutely unbelievable. My cousins from HK were coming in late February to visit. My Christmas will be ruined this year and all the years after. The rest of the way there was just depressing.

The hospital visit was no better. We met up with my younger aunt who was there already and filled us in. We visited the body. My other aunt, a strong woman she is, hands rough and calloused from years of work, once slapped me across the face and gave me a nosebleed. At the sight of my grandma lying there on the hospital bed broke her down completely. She cried like a 5 year old calling for mommy to wake up again. To wake up so on Wednesday we could have hot pot. It went on for 5 minutes more with my younger aunt trying to use logic and reasoning and eventually just pulled her out of there. My mother just kept running her hand through her mother's hair while silently crying. I stood there absorbing it all in until the walls broke and tears started streaming down my own face. When it was time to leave, I kissed my grandmother on the forehead and said I'll miss her.

The rest of the day was spent preparing the funeral arrangements, having lunch, packing up the stuff at my grandma's apartment and with me crying myself to sleep on the sofa that I usually sleep on when I visit. The only peace I have is that grandpa escorted her and now they are in the fields with Max, watching him run around. Hopefully I'll see it someday as well.

Day 1
I begin work at like 1 or two. I drained the oil from the pan, filter housing, and oil drain housing. I unbolted the downpipe first. Then worked on getting the oil feed line loose. In short, I broke it. But at least it's off. Then unbolted the manifold. Morale was pretty high since I knew what I was doing. I undid the coolant lines and it gushed out like a waterfall. I didn't managed to catch most of it either into a drain. Hope EPA doesn't find me.

Here's where it starts to turn sour. I couldn't find any bolts among my pile of bolts that would fit into the oil drain on the CHRA. All were either too small or the thread pitch was wrong. I went to work on replacing the manifold studs with new FP ones with copper nuts. I got all of them out except the broken one on the passenger side. I tried drilling into it and it was going nowhere.

So I decided to work on putting the studs in first. I got maybe 3 in before I accidently dropped my 12mm wrench directly into the damn downpipe. WTF I tried to fish it out with my magnetic pole. No luck there. Morale is dropping pretty fast. Now I have to remove the downpipe to get my wrench back.

Day 2
Started off late today since I was busy playing R6: Vegas (mad addicting). Key things I wanted to do. Get that god damn wrench out and finish putting the studs back on. I managed to do both and have a bit of time before sundown. So I decided to finally mount it. I reinstalled the FP manifold with the gasket, this time with copper sprayed gasket. I positioned the turbo underneath and tried to fit it.

First thing I noticed...the condenser fan HAD to come off. No way the turbo was going to clear with the Tial on the O2 housing. So I dropped it. It took me a good half hour to try to get it on. Lots of blood, sweat and tears. I had no one to help me so I had to position a 30lb turbo setup one handed while the other hand thread the bolts into the turbine housing. I almost cried a couple of times due to frustration. I need to start working out my arms.

Finally it was on. After that I installed the oil feed line. It's a bit awkward. It feeds directly down from the oil filter housing and then does a U-ey up to the turbo. By this time night is falling so I started to finish up. I installed the oil drain line to see how it would fit. I definitely need to cut it some more. I also looped the coolant lines together with red silicone hose. It was the only thing I could find. Tomorrow, I need to find out what bolts go to the oil drain.

Day 3
Again, started late (now I'm addicted to CoD4). Main things I wanted to get done. Get the intake on, find the oil drain bolts, connect the turbo to the rest of the system, and hook up the wastegate. Since the aluminum elbow I ordered on MONDAY still hasn't come in, I decided to get it from Lowe's. Grabbed a 2 inch PVC elbow, some T-fittings, and bolts. I still have not gotten an answer on what bolts to use so I decided to start it off with M8 x 1.00 and M8 x 1.25. Also got some washers.

Once home, I tested the bolts out. No luck. It's too loose. I decided to tackle the wastegate first. Relocated the AVCR solenoid and hooked everything up according to the diagram. Next, the intercooler piping. Immediately I realized my mistake. PVC piping is measured at the O.D. not the I.D. I was stuck with an elbow that was way too big. So I went after the intake system then. Turbo inlet was way too big for the old coupler. :| I could have sworn it was 3 inches when I first got it. My morale is down. I decided to take a second trip to Lowe's but this time, bringing with me a ruler.

I returned what I didn't need and went back to Plumbing. Measured the reducer coupler and the elbow this time. Perfect sizes. Back to bolts. This time, I opted for M10 x 1.25 and M10 x 1.5. When I got home, I immediately tested this out. They started to thread but then was stopped completely. At this point I was ready to quit and think of other ways to get what I wanted. Like redrill the damn thing and tap in new threads. I opted to continue working on the rest and give Bullseye a call. I ended the night by installing the piping to the turbo and the intake as well. Both are a big snug but will do for now. Tomorrow the quest for bolts continues. Last thing needed to do is cut the oil drain line to length. And if there's time, install the oil pressure gauge.

Day 4
Murphy's Law really hit me hard today. I went back to Lowe's again and returned stuff. This time I knew which bolts to get. 3/8 x 16 threads per inch thanks to Jusmx141.

Got home, test fitted, and it works fine. :thumb: So I went to go get the gasket and flange. Found the flange but the gasket was nowhere to be found. I spent a good hour just looking through the junk I had. Finally found it on the floor.

Copper sprayed it and went to go bolt it on only to find the oil drain flange holes were too small for the bolts. WTF So I took a drill and ported the inside till it finally fit. Tried it again and this time I noticed the holes were way off the CHRA :|. So I took the drill again and ported the flange till it would match up the CHRA. What a pain.

Afterwards, came the oil drain line itself. It was guess and check work to see how it matched up. In the end, it fitted really snug. Might have kinked the line as well. I was tired and wanted to get boosting so it's a fix for a later day.

I grabbed 3 quarts oil and 1 qt Lucas stabilizer. Dumped all 4 qts in the engine, broke my dipstick, took out the fuse for the pump, and cranked it several times to build oil pressure. What I noticed was the light never went off after cranking several times for 10 seconds each time. Might be a sign of a bad pump. So I said whatever and just started her up. Let it warmed up and I realized I dumped a lot of coolant out so I quickly went and got two jugs of it and dumped that in as well. Water temperature stayed steady and the fan kicked on as well. My main concern is the increased engine bay temperature while missing the condenser fan. I wouldn't be surprised if summertime hit and overheating is common.

Test drove it and boy did it feel GREAT! Turbo lag is definitely noticeable but not horrible. I finally got to hear an O2 dump in the cabin but I'm still indifferent on the noise. Sounds loud and annoying but I don't mind. Untuned I boosted up to about 14 psi and the engine died after the run. It felt like a boost leak so I popped the hood and the PCV coupler blew off the intercooler piping. I still curse the people I order the aluminum elbow from. I reinstalled it and limped back home. Unfortunately no more driving the DSM for me all wee. Insurance is going to inspect the damage so I have to leave her in NJ. :( And that my friends, is how the turbo swap went.

P.S. I developed an oil leak as well. Where, I'm not sure but it wouldn't surprise me if it was at the oil drain line like I predict it would be. Maybe I'll fix that next weekend.

On my quest to eliminate wheel hop and have stiffer motor mounts, I have been trying to finish my install of Prothanes. I did the driver side and front about a year ago. Those went in and out quickly. I started up again recently and did my rear mount last weekend. It was a pain considering the inserts totally did not fit and I had to burn the rubber out and fill it with construction grade polyurethane. Very stiff though. The tranny mount has given me the most trouble so far. I am not able to clear those god damn studs at all. My engine has bottomed out to the cross member so no way the tranny can move down further. So I decided the only thing left to do is cut the damn studs.

The farthest one in the back worked great. It clears the stud and there's plenty of thread left. This is most likely due to the room from removing the battery. However, the two inner ones are blocked by the fuse box and the harness. I had to squeeze my dremel in between to get it. And even then I only cut it halfway before my cutting wheel snapped off. Put on another one and that snapped off too. :|

So now here I sit thinking how to do this. It's pissing me off slowly. I need to make a trip to the hardware store.

My goals for this summer to lose my track virginity. However, I want it to be great, just like any other devirginizing, if you know what I mean. Therefore, I've been preparing my car for a bigger turbo. Fuel system is nearly done. After this weekend, hopefully all I need left is 850cc injectors. I have DSMLink, my EPROM is chipped, and I have a Tial 38mm on the way. However, I recently started truly thinking of the turbo install. I decided on a BEP T04e 50 trim from Slowboy, who has a sale going on now.

Problem is, I'm the type of guy who wants to do everything right, once, and get it over with. Since the swap of a turbo needs to drain fluids, it would be ideal to do the swap at the next oil change. But since you also need to flush the radiator, why not install a new aluminum radiator too right? But wait, that means I'll need an AT cooler since aftermarket radiators do not support that. The only ideal way to install the cooler would be in the stock sidemount. So then that means I'll need a new god damn intercooler.

:| My problem is not the lack of money. I can always work during school and make more. It's the time. My goal is to get to the track and make amazing passes. I do not have the time to accumulate that much for everything I need. Oh how I wished I had more time. Let's tally up the cost.

BEP 50 trim + oil feed and return ~ $800
ETS FMIC - ~$900
Aluminum rad with slim fans $250
AT cooler ~ $250

So I need to accumulate about $2200 to get everything done. That equates to about 8 more weeks of work. Looks like I'm not reaching that goal.

I can tell I'm getting dangerously obsessed with anything that has to do with 4g63, turbos, DSMs, Eclipse, Talon, Laser, Evo, Galant VR4. Although I have been modding my car just like everyone else, I do not feel I have this itch fulfilled. It's a call of yearning. So this is what I did.

I bought a 6 bolt bare block with no crank along with a 1G head. As if I wasn't losing money as it is. But I am excited. I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet. It'll definitely be a street/strip motor. Forged internals, overbore pistons, big cams, titanium springs and oversized valves. That's the idea so far. The final product will most likely have changes to it.

#1 cylinder is gone. It'll need to be bored and honed. I'll need to find a crank, rods, pistons. Decisions will need to be made on what kind of rods and pistons. Will I go with a stroker kit or will that be overkill on the wallet? The biggest question is what to do with it afterwards. It's down far enough the road to not think about it now. However, the options are if my 7 bolt goes out the door, this will definitely be dropped in. But if it isn't and an empty AWD shell comes along at the right price, I guarantee I'll breathe new life into the dead DSM.

The stock Infinity is crap. Ever since I got the car, the FM radio does not work. Which is fine since majority of the time, it's ads. So I listen to my PSP or CDs. Of course after like hearing the same songs over and over again, you get tired and want to change. Of course I couldn't turn to my radio.

Lately, the cassette player has been crapping out as well. It'll spit out the cassette I have that hooks up to my PSP every now and then for no reason. Also, the CD player has gotten more sensitive. I'll put in like brand new CDs and it'll skip. Don't get me started on the scratched up ones I have. So I decided it was time to change. I needed something fresh. More up to date. Better, faster, stronger. But I'm a cheapo as well. Nothing over $200. So i went on Crutchfield.com to look. And this is what I found.

After a bit more reviewing on Google, apparently people who have it, rave about it. One of the best receivers for under $200. Crutchfield had it for like $150 but it was sold out till late June. I wasn't having that. A quick search on ebay found me one for $128. SOLD! Followed by an order on Crutchfield for installation directions, wiring harness, and a one DIN kit.

So I started at 11 and I just finished at like 6:30. It was nuts. I got lost on the wiring. I couldn't figure out why no sound was coming out before. Fixed that then realized my driver side door speaker wasn't talking. Fixed that, then fitted, then removed the receiver several times. It consisted of several reasons. I lost a screw, a metal plate for the screw, lost another screw, dash console wasn't fitting right, kick panels didn't fit in right, receiver face didn't fit in dash console, etc etc. This was all before me trying to figure out how to assemble the whole unit in my garage and wondering what the hell ISO meant. Finally it was in and I was happy. The music plays, the radio plays, it's a cool looking receiver. I couldn't be happier. Now I have to fix the antenna motor. Or disable it altogether and get a short antenna. For now I'm ok, till the sound bugs the hell out of me.

It was a gorgeous day. Everything seemed great. My dog has been whining for a week now day and night for some reason however. Took him to the vet last Saturday because I thought his leg hurt which was not the case. It got worst and he stopped eating which drew great concern for us since my dog loves to eat.

So I took him to the vet and just waited. Massaged him, rubbed him all over, trying to comfort him since he hates the vet. We were called him and the doctor inspected him again. Checked his prostate, temperature, then drew blood for examination. I comforted him some more while waiting with my mom for the results.

The doctor came in, closed the rear door and the front door. Then she gave us the results. "Unfortunately Max has kidney failure. The test results show 85% damage. There is no way I can get the numbers back to normal but I do want to leave him at the hospital to get some fluids back in because he's dehydrated and then send him home to enjoy the 3 months to 1 year but that's pushing it."

At that point it hit me like fuel cut and I was just in utter shock. Then the tears slowly came and with it my hand covering my mouth to stifle the hyperventilation I was having. To think, on this day, exactly 1 month from his birthday, my best friend is diagnosed with kidney failure and he has a time limit on him. I honestly feel helpless.

I asked her if there was any way to foresee something like this. I felt partially responsible. I felt like I should have taken him to the vet more. More checkups. Maybe I could have caught the problem before it became one. She said no since dogs don't show sickness until they're very sick. I don't believe her one bit. I still feel guilty.

I left him in the hospital for treatment of dehydration and ease his pain. I cried a river. I drove to my friend's house for a meet only to spill motor oil all over the carpet. I instead hung out with one of my best g/fs. She knew what I was going through and kept me sane. We hung out at the park and laid in the grass, enjoying the sunset. But I couldn't help feeling that I wish my dog was with me enjoying it with us as well.

I have already started working on taking him places. I took him to Pt Pleasant beach last Tues. Originally it was me and some other girl but he insisted to ride with us in the DSM. I think he loves it. Pt Pleasant unfortunately does not let dogs onto the boardwalk or beach which is dumb but we did manage to snag into a bay area which had sand and water where the fishermen hung out. I think afterwards, he was satisfied to feel the sand beneath his paws again and see the vast ocean.

And here I am still sobbing every now and then, talking with my friend and apologizing for not going to the meet and explaining my situation. I gotta do whatever it takes to make it the best summer ever for my best friend.

Well I had a bbq on Friday at work. We basically got paid to eat. Awesome.

Saturday is where the fun begins. Having previously bought a 3 inch downpipe, catback, and rear sway bar, I was eager to put it on. So I went to my buddy's house and we shot the shit for a bit. He had some stuff to do but he was still a great help. He had to change brakes. Once he helped me take off one of the endlinks and showed me the glory of a torch, it was up to me to take the other endlink off. Torches rule. Withing half an hour I had it all off and was putting the 18mm sway bar on. Quick trip to the hardware store got us some new bolts and nuts and I also bought my own torch right then and there. After that it was smooth sailing.

The next part is putting the whole exhaust on. We used torches and impact wrenches on the O2 housing. It came off quick. We didn't bother with the cat. We just took it off the hangars. At the next bend, we took a reinforced cutoff wheel and just sliced the exhaust in two and dragged it out. The muffler went as well. At thie point we start putting the new exhaust on. The gaskets are crap as we come to realize. We have it hooked up halfway and decided to turn it on for some fun. She sounded super sexy. After that we had trouble installing the muffler part. We had to angle it in but we eventually got it. Hooked it up and went for a test drive. Man did she feel free. Spools at 2k RPMs now. Helped my buddy clean up the driveway and went home.

Sunday, I decided to help my buddy paint his 240sx. He's been restoring it to a decent shape and a paint job was in dire need after all the bondo work he did. We washed the car off. Then a trip to Walmart got us about $100 in supplies. We started masking all the essentials first till his friend and girlfriend came to help us out. Pretty soon we started primering it. Had a ice tea break and then sanded it down with 600. Primered it again and sanded it down with 1200. Then we added the flat black which is what he wants. It looked pretty awesome when we finished. We then went to a local meet at Fuddruckers. The people were impressed at the 240 for sure. After food, we had a photoshoot.

Today, I was initially just gonna reattach that ground strap to my exhaust. After putting it in park and hearing it grind in reverse, then doing it several times again to confirm the noise, I decided it was time to change the tranny fluid. I reattached the ground strap and went to work on the tranny. I followed the Hayne's manual and drained it out from the cooler first. Then I worked on the drain plugs. After both emptied, I loosened the pan bolts. Hit myself in the face with the wrench a couple of times. After I pulled the pan and filter off, I went to Pep Boys and got some black RTV, Brakeleen, a new gasket and filter set. I then made a trip to Walmart and got 4 quarts of Mopar +4 ATF. I cleaned the pan with the brakeleen and scraped the old RTV off. I put the gasket on and bolted the filter in place. Had a bit of trouble with the gasket to stay in place on the pan but I eventually got it down. Afterwards I torqued the bolts and drain plugs down. Then dumped a quart of Pennzoil ATF in. Ran it in neutral and had it flush out of the same cooler hose. Then dumped all 4 quarts of Mopar in, reconnected everything and went for a short drive. Initial upshifting is fine but downshifting from 2nd to 1st is hard. I still haven't filled it up but as soon as I can, I will since I ran out of daylight and everything closes at 6 today. I hope the tranny will be fine.

No he didn't die. But I consider him dead. There's been a whole rift between him and the rest of my family because his dad/my uncle left him cause his wife/his mom cheated on him. I won't say what my uncle did was right.

We've been hanging out for a bit since Fall-ish 2007. We went to bars and drank a bit. Met some of his friends. Is it so wrong for me to facebook the girls later and talk to them? Course not, but he think otherwise. Calls me desperate and makes him look bad. Ok so I didn't do that shit anymore. Then he goes around behind my back, friends my friends, and then starts raping their facebook walls. I hate hypocrites. I do not condone them. I try not to be one. If I happen to act as one, I apologize profusely and correct my mistake. Then he basically hijacks my conversation with a girl he knows I like. He says I'm jealous that all my friends ask him to hang out and not me. I won't lie. I am. I think it's bullshit that they would go and do that. So I told him that's why I'm cutting my losses.

The fact that he denies it all and make it seem like he's still in the right pisses me off. I called him a hypocritical punk, backstabbing, low life. He called me a little bitch, told me to grow up. I told him that at least I'm not one to change my name and deny my blood ties. I told him I'd make it easier on him and deny him as my cousin. He asked if I was being serious. I said I've been doing fine so far since I've ceased all communications with him and others for a good 3 months now.

He then writes, "Live up to it then. Just remember, you'll never be better than me. You're not my cousin. yadda yadda yadda."

 I'm already better than him cause I don't go around stealing people's friends. Especially when that person is family.

I miss him though. We had our moments when we were kids and we had our recent moments chilling, hanging out, bballing, drinking, eating, and all that good stuff. I was supposed to go to his graduation from pharmacy with a PH.D. But I just can't let this shyt slide.

Am I in the wrong? Can I get a second opinion? It was one of the more emotional blogs I have ever made cause this shit really stresses me out. I really need a pack of cigs and a bottle of liquor. I really think we're both wrong in our own ways but I have a reason to be mad. He doesn't.

I had the bloody thing for like 6 months. I got it sometime in October and I was debating on where to put it. I originally had it hang from my windshield. I had everything installed where I want it. I just needed to hook them up via vacuum lines and from the face unit to the ECU. However, other projects came in. I tackled stuff like the Prothanes. Winter rolled around and it got too cold to work outside. So basically the face unit just hung from the top of my windshield. Well just recently, it fell from there due to the weak adhesive and smacked me in the head. I decided that I do not want it there. I instead, positioned it right in front of the center console vents. I then reroute the cable thru the vents in the center console. I took some quick taps and got everything finally hooked up. Turned the car on and she purrs. The AVCR engaged and I started messing with it. Set the boost the way I wanted to. Haven't drove her yet but I will later tonight. Hopefully, it'll be a blast.
