I can tell I'm getting dangerously obsessed with anything that has to do with 4g63, turbos, DSMs, Eclipse, Talon, Laser, Evo, Galant VR4. Although I have been modding my car just like everyone else, I do not feel I have this itch fulfilled. It's a call of yearning. So this is what I did.

I bought a 6 bolt bare block with no crank along with a 1G head. As if I wasn't losing money as it is. But I am excited. I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet. It'll definitely be a street/strip motor. Forged internals, overbore pistons, big cams, titanium springs and oversized valves. That's the idea so far. The final product will most likely have changes to it.

#1 cylinder is gone. It'll need to be bored and honed. I'll need to find a crank, rods, pistons. Decisions will need to be made on what kind of rods and pistons. Will I go with a stroker kit or will that be overkill on the wallet? The biggest question is what to do with it afterwards. It's down far enough the road to not think about it now. However, the options are if my 7 bolt goes out the door, this will definitely be dropped in. But if it isn't and an empty AWD shell comes along at the right price, I guarantee I'll breathe new life into the dead DSM.

You should lube up the cylinder walls, crank journals with some wd-40 to keep the rust to a minimum. If the whole block rusts over you are going to have one hell of a machining bill.

    Sounds fun!!

as for your build...i kinda feel like you should decide now what you want to do with the motor...

me personally, i'd enjoy a mildmannered street car in the 12s all day long...coming dangeriously close to 11s and still takes me to and fro...

i know this, because i saw it with my own eyes...with a 6bolt block, .20 over 2g pistons, big 1g rods, ported 1g head, stock 1g cams, and a 50trim with supporting mods, my awd buddy went 11.80...i SAW it happen...to me, thats a budget build, and that RIPS

just personally, i read alot, im not real big on bigtime springs and valves...i know for sure they help, but after i saw an 11.80 run with the stock ones...why go bigger unless its full race?
if my buddy had got some decent cams, that thing would have been COOKIN...and thats alot of stock stuff in there...

my block is a 6bolt block, .20 overs, 1g rods, and im using a 2g head because i just want crazy streetability, i don't like revving the car real high or waiting for boost AT ALL. with my new turbo setup(which i havent decided if i should just rebuild this e3 i got or go 20g wheel in a td06 housing) i should be delving into the 12's just fine, without breaking too muchstuff, and driving home just like ms daisy... just a few things to think about

by no means do i think ## doing anything wrong, just thought i'd hit you with my .02

    good luck!

It's still in the works of being decided on what to do with it. Hell I don't think I can support both this engine build and my car. I might actually save this for the wintertime when I can't do anything outside in the cold weather. I'll be definitely trying to preserve it. Thanks for the advice. I will send it to a machine shop to have it cleaned, bored, and honed. After that, I'll store it.

I need some motivation but I just found a 6 bolt block I can pull out of a 90 auto fwd, And its FREE best of all!

The car is sitting in a Impound lot semi stripped and laying on its ass end without tires.

I actually consider selling my Running driving 93 Eclipse 1.8 to rebuild the 90 just so I could have a CLONE of mine but more mild manor and use it as a daily my wife could drive since its a auto trans.....

I too have A obsession because at one moment I thought WAIT I could just have 3 DSM's but my wife looked at me like , just like she did when i said I need 2 .....

I am running out of reasons that i need multi pull cars...

As for youre build 1g 2g hybrid motor is tried and tru and best of all its a good bang for your buck! Go fully ARP and Studded with Maybe Just big valves
*Stainless* and Nice cams *272* I love the e3 turbo since its got a snappy spool and mild driving for daily!

Even with a boost leak and a motor that falls on its face under full boost, the Quick spool the turbo has Intimidated people out around town they really just dont want non, and the funny thing is Im just bluffing till I get it fixed and REALLY can do something!

well now that you have this...just build it and don't do anything other than maintenance on your car...you should just do a COMPLETE build outside the car...then in the winter just rip that 7bolt out and drop this badboy in...you already have some sweet stuff like that fp race mani...other than that just do a COMPLETE build...272 combo...whatever size pistons and rods you like...go to like some 780's...take your time with it...get stuff powdercoated real nice and make sure it's all real sweet...then just drop it in...mate it up with the trans...and take it easy until u can afford a race trans...thats like 2 years and you'd be DONE putting down like 450+ horse

yeah i think im just gonna do the e3 with the 2g head 1g block

The only time during winter I think I can afford downtime is break. Till then, it's still debatable what to do with the motor. I really would like a 1g AWD. I just hope a shell comes along at the right price.

    92 Talon AWD Shell

Ok buddy....i see that you're looking for a shell. I have a '92 Eagle Talon TSi shell...it needs a little body work but other than that rust is at a minimum. I havn't looked to see where you're at but make me an offer and we'll go from there....when i mean a shell...i mean it really is a shell. the only things left in it are the four bolt rear end....and wiring harness....but if it's going to be a long drive for you it might not be worth your time to come get it....i live in Monroe, WI by the way. I do have a complete tan leather interior for it and all the other parts. minus the six bolt engine, trans and transfer case....well i have them but don't want to part with them....lol

The motor is not even done yet...or even begun to work on it. And WI is too far from NJ. Sorry not interested.

I just pick one up myself for 30 bucks. I dont think we can use stock 1g and 2g piston and rod combo if our cly walls are rusted. Dont they need to bore that out? .20?

but thats what im saying, if you start the build now, the motor will be DONE by then, just sitting on the stand...all you will have to do is yank that 7bolt out, throw the 6bolt in...you could make it drop in if you wanted to...

If I remember right, you can get stock 2G pistons for .20 over. Can't remember for the life of me if it is a mitsu part or someone else. Hope that helps a little bit. haha.
