I have a radio again!

The stock Infinity is crap. Ever since I got the car, the FM radio does not work. Which is fine since majority of the time, it's ads. So I listen to my PSP or CDs. Of course after like hearing the same songs over and over again, you get tired and want to change. Of course I couldn't turn to my radio.
Lately, the cassette player has been crapping out as well. It'll spit out the cassette I have that hooks up to my PSP every now and then for no reason. Also, the CD player has gotten more sensitive. I'll put in like brand new CDs and it'll skip. Don't get me started on the scratched up ones I have. So I decided it was time to change. I needed something fresh. More up to date. Better, faster, stronger. But I'm a cheapo as well. Nothing over $200. So i went on Crutchfield.com to look. And this is what I found.

After a bit more reviewing on Google, apparently people who have it, rave about it. One of the best receivers for under $200. Crutchfield had it for like $150 but it was sold out till late June. I wasn't having that. A quick search on ebay found me one for $128. SOLD! Followed by an order on Crutchfield for installation directions, wiring harness, and a one DIN kit.
So I started at 11 and I just finished at like 6:30. It was nuts. I got lost on the wiring. I couldn't figure out why no sound was coming out before. Fixed that then realized my driver side door speaker wasn't talking. Fixed that, then fitted, then removed the receiver several times. It consisted of several reasons. I lost a screw, a metal plate for the screw, lost another screw, dash console wasn't fitting right, kick panels didn't fit in right, receiver face didn't fit in dash console, etc etc. This was all before me trying to figure out how to assemble the whole unit in my garage and wondering what the hell ISO meant. Finally it was in and I was happy. The music plays, the radio plays, it's a cool looking receiver. I couldn't be happier. Now I have to fix the antenna motor. Or disable it altogether and get a short antenna. For now I'm ok, till the sound bugs the hell out of me.

Looks sick...what kind of features does it have? Every couple of years I spring for a new headunit b/c of upgrades in technology...my old one now doesn't have support for these new ipods...where I keep all my music.
Does it have sub control? Play mp3 cds? EQ? Let me know man, I might grab one of them too for $128! =)
PS - If I get my pos, pita, worst motor ever, 6bolt running netime this week, and not leaking 4 quarts of oil, I'm coming to the CJ meet with yesItsdsm. PRay for me - or come help me fix this crap! hahahaPosted 06-21-2008 at 08:16 PM by KPEclipse

Well I'm having trouble right now with my SS line to the Fuelab kit. One end is frayed too much and I can't get the fitting on. I tried cutting it with a dremel and a hacksaw. Both times it frayed. I had tape wrapped around it too. It's bullshit. My hands are all ####ed up from getting stabbed by the SS braid. I probably have several pinholes.Posted 06-22-2008 at 05:34 PM by crimsondragon
