I was in search for a better performance oriented platform. I was looking at s2ks and wrxs for my new dd. In my spare time i frequented this forum to read random tech articles and was bit by the bug again. I wanted another dsm but take this one in a different directon than my previous. In November 2010 i found a 1997 eclipse gst. Took a 3 hour drive picked her up and brought her home.
With my previous car i had done some research on turboing the 420a so i had some knowledge on what it took to make my car go faster. I started using the aquired knowledge i had gained from this forum to plan out my build. I want a reliable dd, 300whp, and very clean looking dsm. I know that i might get some bad feedback on the aesthetic stuff i bought for the car since the money could had been put towards performance parts but i like my cars to look good. So now its time to gather parts.
Tune ready.
Havent updated for awhile but have gone through alot with this car since then. Last time i posted i was having problems with boost creep. So instead of getting a ewg setup i followed the advice of some people on here and decided to get it ported. I didnt wanna limit the e3 16g with the 34mm flapper mod so instead i decided to port and install the bigger flapper on the s16g i had lying around. After putting it all back together took it out for a drive. Got on it and the creep was a lil bit better but was still there! So disapointed. On the way home all of a sudden the car went limp and was driving horribly. Limped the car home to find one of the spark plug wires had gotten eaten through by the tbelt! Turned the car off and decided to put my cop setup on instead. Wired everything up but the car wouldnt start. So i thought i must have done it wrong. It had already been a long day and i was frustrated so i went got some new wires. Tossed those on but car still didnt start up. Wtf! That weekend i looked things over and came to think maybe it was my starter. Took the starter out and had it tested at autozone. For some reason the guy couldnt get the machine to work but then finally told me the starter was bad. Got the new starter went home and installed. Still no start... pissed off at this point i give up. Neighbor came over a couple days later and we started talking. Somewhere we joking said that it would be pretty stupid if it was just the clutch switch. So just to check go into the car and i crawl under there to unplug it and i see the lil rubber stopper sitting there broken in 2 on the floor. Then and there i knew dam it lol. Unplugged it and bam the car started right up.
So i spent alot of money tryin to fix that up. And now im ready to tune. So i go to put the injectors in and do a base tune. They dont fit, fml. Come to find out i was sold domestic style injectors that are to big to fit into our fuel rails. Nice 150 wasted there, sucks being a noob. Anyway i ended up getting some 1000cc from a local and now im waiting for tune money again. Also the car now has some weird vibration to it when im going straight or turning left but when i turn right it feels super smooth. Will have to prob get that fixed first. Underneath are some pics of the injectors next to each other so other noobies dont end up doing the same thing as i did. Also underneath the pics i will leave a bit of my records to show how quickly things can go out of budget so that they might plan better then i did. Until next time guys
