Blog Title: BigSorn
my dsm
Posted 10-23-2008 at 10:41 PM by BigSorn
Well, it's been over a year since I've had it, so I though I's post a blog about my dream car.
I bought the car off ebay, just searching around looking for a dsm. I didn't know a thing about them, and I wanted a loud bov. Now I know better, and have alot more fun. Me and my dad went down to Colorado Springs to get the car. That's the farthest I've ever been from ND, and wow, that was a nice drive. The guy lived right in the bottom of the hills in Colorado Springs, and I had alot of fun test driving the car. The ride back sucked, because my dream car was 20 feet behind me, and I couldn't drive it. The car was completly stock when I bought it, and I know I wanted to mod it, but I didn't know how, and I didn't know what I wanted to do with it. Now, my goal is an ultimate street car. I really want to road race it, but being in North Dakota, there's not much for that here. So anyway, on with the car.
Current mods:
Apex'i N1 catback
Apex'i N1 Downpipe
HKS uicp
HKS SSQV
ported 1g exhaust manifold
MHI evo III 16g
ebay o2 dump
wally 255lph fuel pump
1000cc injectors afpr
DSMLINK
brand new 6 bolt!
polished crank
eagle rods
ross pistons
clevite bearings
new waterpump
new timing shit
cometic headgasket
arp headstuds
red paint on everything.
ACT 2600
XTC lightwieght flywheel
Old probe wheels painted gunmetal.
It hasn't been running since the middle of may, and I miss it alot. I'm hoping to get it done withing the next couple of weeks.
P.S. I know I'm a ricer for taking pictures of the muffler...But I spent a good chunck of money for it, so I wanted to see it.

yessss rod bearing to the RESCUE!
I did the same thing, except mine was @ the track.
Seems you have alot under control. Only suggestion I have is if you have all that sweet stuff, why the *baby* snail? Not to say an E3 isn't a great turbo, it is, but with what you have, you can make WAYYYYY more power and have alot more fun with something that flows more.
Looks like a nice car thus far.
I think I've seen you around the holset threads, but if not, check them out.
I've had my dsm for about 4.5 years, and it's JUST getting to the point where I'm happy with it. Once I do this next turbo up, and the suspension, its paint, then change the oil, trans fluid, plugs, and water, and then do whatever it takes to make the car look as close to stock as possible.
For sometime over a year, I think you're doing well!Posted 10-24-2008 at 08:58 AM by KPEclipse

I wish I had the money to go bigger
I'm only 16 and work part time.
Right now I'm saving up for a Twinscroll HTA 35R. I've been looking more into these holset threads, and They are looking more and more promising.
Last spring I had the dream of running a 10.xxx in the 1/4 mile, before I graduate highschool, but, that's a little hard being the poor kid that I am.Posted 10-24-2008 at 10:32 AM by BigSorn

maybe one for subs if your into that but seeing you wanna run 10's doubt you will have the weight of subs in the trunk so i dunno could be anything. Nitrous engage/purge switch possibilities are endless.. Good luck with the 6 bolt and the build. Thats the same age i bought my dsm only i worked full time because i took out such a big loan and my car made me spend all of it within 2 months of purchasing it
