Blog Title: 1997 TSi AWD..stock..to...NOT!
Ok so a couple of days ago. I picked up a '97 TSi AWD for $2500! She's in pretty good shape, with only minor problems, and maintenance is already complied with

Anyway, in a previous life. She was an automatic, and the dude that I bought it from thought I was a good mechanic knowing that it was a swap, (I just looked at the cluster after seeing A/T temp light hehe )

I'm going to post verbatim what he did (allegedly) to the car.

TOKICO BLUE SHOCKS
H & R LOWERING SPRING
NEW LSD REAR DIFF
NEW DRIVER SIDE AXLE
NEW FRONT BRAKES
NEW TIRES Z RATED
TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP WITH IDLER AND TENSIONER
NEW 02 SENSORS
FIDANZA FLYWHEEL 7 POUNDS
CENTERFORCE 6 PUCK CLUTCH
NEW CRANK AND CAM SENSORS
NEW PLUGS AND WIRES, FUEL FILTER.
CAMBER PLATES FOR REAR AND FRONT.
PORTED EXHAUST MANIFOLD
B AND M SHORT THROW SHIFTER

Ok, so there's that. I questioned about the b&m shifter being discontinued, and he said that his friend gave it to him after sitting for like 5 years.

The shocks/springs are real actually, but I've got coilovers so it's not a concern.

Camber plates are correct, I'm glad he took care enough of it..

Crank cam angle sensor. I noticed it was the style that came on the '95s, so I'm thinking motor swap.

Ported exhaust mani....meh....I've got a new setup, which I will post a picture of.

That 6 puck clutch? GOT to go, way to chattery and clanky for daily street driving. For me anyway

Jealous much? This is the setup slated for the car. DNP manifold/o2 housing, 38mm Tial WG, Td06 20g

But as you can see, there's a nice gap between the wg and o2 housing. It could theoretically run, just stupid loud. I'm waiting on a spacer.

What are the two springs you have on your o2 housing for? Resemble the one I have on my oil dipstick from STM.

My comment didn't go through I see. He got in a fender bender, that didn't destroy the bumper completely, but the guy went and replaced it with a 2ga front. I am definitely going to invest the 2gb front. $$$

Just a couple more pics to throw up.

Got my PR fmic fitted on from my gsx. This one has the stock splash shield still, dremel action ftw. If you'd like a pic of that for any reason, I'll get one.

    New and the old

Double like. Needs a 2gb talon front though.

Jealous that yours is actually a talon, and mine is a talon swap.

hehe, thanks guys. There's always more room for dsm's! haha.

Definitely going to drop the rediculous coinage for a 2gb bumper cover for sure.

The pics are with my phone, soooo, there's stuff that you cant see really. Need a good bit of body work and paint. If I had the cash, I'd get the whole car painted.

I think it was, It's mostly the rear bumper though. I'll know for sure when I take it off to r2 it.

When I get a chance, I second the -AN fittings lol, but for now, I jacked her up and secured it.

No leak there, but when I fixed one leak, another one sprung, sooo much more. I'm getting oil from the head now instead of the stock from the housing, I capped it temporarily until I can plug the hole...wellll...my capping proved ineffective and the oil found it's way through and GOOD GOD my driveway...UHHH that's gonna leave a mark

ALSO, my spankin new feed line (from the head, as stated earlier) is also leaking, but not from a fitting, but from where the SS meets the connection just before any fittings...G@Y!

Sufficed to say, I'm going to probably leave my car on base tomorrow and get a rental until I can get it sorted out.

It's good, not to stiff, and not bouncy at all. Though I'm a little biased, my gsx had tein flex's and they're getting swapped over asap
