What to do 1g and 2g

Posted 08-23-2008 at 08:11 PM by AWD_DSM08
Well I finally got all the bugs work out on my 2g awd got the car as a roller with trans for 200 bucks. Did a 97 conversion front rear and trunk lid just needs paint. Full 6 bolt swap with all the bolt ons. A week ago the brand new turbo I had with 400 miles decided it was gonna trash its self and the motor. In the mean time I picked up a 1990 eclipse gst mint roller new paint perfect inter. Im planning on rebuilding the motor at the time I was thinking about stock 2.0 rebuild and a evo3 on the fwd. Then built 2.0 on the awd. The past couple days Ive been wondering if I should ditch the fwd or if it would be a fun car. I was thinking about trading or trying to trade it for a 1g awd shell but idk. I have the awd 2g so maybe the 1g would be fun. I also have a 98 Camaro Z28 witch has been my project forever.

But anyway you think a fwd with drag radials would make a decent street car? opions needed post your thought

I think it would be fun, but it sounds like you have too many projects. I would ditch the 1g and go all out with the 2g.

Way too many projects going on at once, just make the 1G a somewhat nice street car, and build the 2g all out for drag or whatever you want. No reason to go all out on 2 cars that are going to perform nearly the same if they both have 6 bolts in them

1g fwd's on DR's are fun... 21 psi (bfgoodrich drag radials stock 14" talon rims, 215/60r14 tires) on the 14b!

the 2g is all done just waiting on rods and pistons. paint is next year for it. The 1g is perfect and clean have the motor almost ready to put in the car. The camaro Ive had since I was 16 347 cubic in scat rods manhle pistions afr heads and a 250 shot caged built. I like projects just seeing really if the 1g fwd is worth doing anything with

Use the 1G as a daily with maybe some tunes (but I say don't go over 240-250hp) and have the 2G AWD as a track/autox car. Obviously, use the Camaro as a drag car. Although I don't much like domestics (that's right, I'm a hater), it makes the most sense to have the biggest displacement car for the powerhouse.

Just remember a lightly modded fwd is going to get you a lot better gas mileage then a camaro or the built awd.
