Running... sort of

Posted 04-22-2008 at 06:29 PM by architechnik
Well after getting my car back on the road I found there are several things that are quite a bit different from before.

With the balance shaft removal, the engine rotates completely differently from before. There is a much faster reaction time during acceleration, although it also takes much more time to decrease rpm once the throttle is removed.

There is a noticeable lag when shifting to get the rpms back down to an acceptable shift point and I'm having to relearn the entire smooth shift process. Likewise, when I let off the pedal it stays in the red on the O2 for much longer and has caused greater fluctuation in the loop bounce. It makes it quite difficult to know if there is proper combustion during cruise.

With the battery moved to the rear there is also a noticeable difference in the suspension response. It feels as though the vehicle is more lumpy.

My car has leveled out a little more now. It was feeling really bouncy and somewhat lumbering. As I would take a turn, the suspension felt unusually soft in the response. After thoroughly driving around this weekend, it feels like it returned to previous levels.

I think it was from the front wheels and the front bushings being off for so long. I checked the torque on everything and did some hard driving on the back roads and it all seems better seated now.
