Blog Title: DSM Cocktail project
Firstly let me introduce myself.
My name is Leo and I live in Sofia, Bulgaria (Europe).
I have been building my car since 1997 and so far the car looks like this:
A 99 GS (euro spec - 141hp 4G63) with 97 GSX drivetrain and 91 6-bolt, 1G engine wiring harness and 1G eprom ECU.
This week I start my engine build after almost a year of gathering parts. My goals are to make it around 500 crank hp, but everything over 400 crank hp will be success. Here in Bulgaria we don't have a good gas. The best one is 100 octane which is something like your 93 octane gas.
I hope this project will be interesting for you and make you comment/help me out.

So after exactly 1 year I heard the voice of my baby again! Oh, I've missed it.
The past 3 weeks I was busy fixing small stuff like wires, hoses, clamps, leaks...well getting her ready for the first ignition.
Today was pretty adventurous. A dead battery, leaking turbo water feed pipe, cracked oil cooler, unplugged ECU connector and stuff like that just made it more dramatic....

Well it's the final lap for me. Just a few things more. I need to get some silicone couplers for the cooler, some intake pipe and filter (maybe FP one). Need to put the innovate, IAT, MAP sensor and will be ready to fire it up.
I got this cheap intercooler piping kit. The pipes are...

So, the engine is almost complete. The thing that need to be put are the VC and timing belt. I have an OEM timing belt. The VC is on the pics just to se how it will look complete. Than I will have to rotate the whole thing to see if valves are touching the pistons.
ARP head studs

Head job finished. 30 degree angles on valves and head for improved flow.
We used a complicated home made device for puting the springs. Check it out below
Those kigglys were PITA to install. We were four tough guys puting them on. One was putting the valve stem locks, other one was depressing the springs and two were holding the head down to the ground.

Everything torqued to specs. Rod bolts were torqued to 40 lbs, even though the manley instructions didn't have such a low value for the ARP 2000/rods combo. Well I'll trust ARP and forums more than Manley.
The only glitch that I came across is why ARP main bolts didn't have enough room for the oil pump suction tube (or whatever that is called in english).

So far I have accomplished the following:
- Block bored to 85.5mm, honed and regrind surface for the MLS headgasket
- Some head optimizations. Just leveled the bumps and edges inside the head port and cleaned valve seats. The ports will be polished.
