So last Saturday I was all pumped to change the valve cover gasket and change out my fuel filter thinking that neither one should take that long or be that much work, But as we all know its a dsm anything is possible. So Anyway I got up bright and early and headed to the hobby shop on base, got my stall pulled in and got to work. Jacked up the rear of the car disconnected the fuel pump and started the car so i could de pressurize the system, easy stuff. After that i started loosening the bolts holding on the valve cover I was thinking to myself man this is so easy, I love it. Got the valve cover off, got the old gasket off put the new one on, put the rtv on the head and then went to set the valve cover back on so i could tighten it down, and now the problems start. As I slide the valve cover on it get almost all the way down and then it teeters im sitting there like wtf, so i lift it up and try again same thing, so i finally take it all the way back off pretty pissed now only to look down and see that one of the guieds for the lifters is bent in, nice. I fix that with some pliers and place it back good as new. So then I started tightening down the first bolt sweet it tightens all the way down and i continue only to find out about 5 dont tighten al the way down they just spin yeaaaaaaa.
So now i have to heli coil some stuff and i don't trust myself to do it, so i took it by a shop to have them look at it and they suggested after heli coiling to put in studs so that way im not stressing out the aluminum, it sounds like a good idea to me, but I dunno. Anyway I did manage to replace the fuel filter changed with no problems lol.

Sorry to hear about that but yeah you said it, anything is possible. Atleast you were at the hobby shop and have access to all sorts of tools.
