Trans issue I need help

I have a 1995 talon tsi awd turbo. If you start the car and put it into drive it runs and drives fine for around 30 seconds, Then it stops moving and won't go anywhere unless you shut the car off and turn it back on. The problem returns after a few blocks of driving.

This also sounds like my issue I pulled the filter and it was pretty dirty so I'm gonna change it tomorrow and switch in a spare tcu and see what happens.

its an automatic trans, right?

1- change the oil filter

2- check your oil level too (important)

It does sound like a clogged filter.

Filters do not clog unless the trans and/or converter are seriously coming apart. Changing the filter isn't even a band aid fix. You are dealing with the chicken, not the egg (or however you want to look at it).
