Finished the install today, still have to put the Valve body back in the car, I ran out of daylight...

Got some questions though.

1-the ND Valve, what holds it in? It looks like it is going to just slide out!

2-RTv on the pan gasket, yay, or nay?

3-When I dropped the pan... the oil looked like it had never been changed, I found quite a few pieces of metal stuck to the magnets... should I be worried?

Pretty easy install thus far. I have heard getting it back in is a trip though...

I can't remember what meterial that gasket was on mine, isn't it a rubber gasket.? I used a little on mine and it doesn't leak so it couldn't hurt.

How big are the pieces of metal? You will have some stuff on the magnets but I wouldn't worry unless they are big pieces. Hard call without seeing them. Not a bad idea to have the transmission flushed when you get it back together.

Getting it back in isn't hard just remember to line up the Manual valve to the rod/shifter when you put the valvebody back in or you could break the valve or forget to line the two up and wonder why it's not going into gear. You really don't want to drop the pan just to line it up. Also don't overtighten the bolts it's only aluminum and easy to strip.

And that's that i'm out.

Okay... I must have messed up. I got everything back together, which went smoothly... but

I was a little fuzzy on putting the parking pawl in the slit on the manual valve... I thought I done it right, but the car will not come out of park now, and I don't want to force it... Can someone give me a detailed explanation of this?

Also, the solenoids, I have a crude picture here, dipicting the way I have them in (identified by their wire color) Can someone tell me if Im right?

Thanks for your help guys, you will all be getting rep points for the replies!!

Any advice anyone?

RTv the pan i'd say nay. gasket kit should come with the new trans filter or at least mine did. if not you can pick one up at advance auto or pepboys btw. RTv would IMO just replace the gasket. and next time u went to get the pan off would probably be a bi*** to do.

as stated above i wouldnt worry to much about the metal pieces as long as they arent big pieces. thats what the magnets are there for anyways to catch the lil things. transmission fluid and filter should be changed out also (as much fluid as u can get out of the trans) when doing the shift kit) makes life easier.

I tried to get the pic out of the manual for you last night but I don't know what the hell i'm doing. You are right about the solonoids Left to Right are
Yellow- shift solonoid B
Orange- shift solonoid A
Red- torque converter lockup
Blue- pressure control
Hope that helps.

This is a normal amount of metal on the magnets. As stated, large peices of metal are a cause for concern.

Don't use any RTV because you will probably want to pull everything back out at least once to tweak the valve body a little more and the gasket should be enough to keep it from leaking. RTV just makes it harder to pull apart the next time like was mentioned.
