just wondering how I would go around fixing the shifter in the car being off one spot. when the shifter is in R the trans is in P, and 2 is D so on. I have a trans lab shift kit also.

I dont know if dsm's are similar to fords, but in that situation youll need to (when the car is off) put the TRS(transmission range sensor) in drive, put the shifter in drive, and then re- attach them
 
Adjust the linkage with both the trans and shifter in neutral.
