As some of you are aware, we're becoming a lot more lenient in our Regional Forums. For years, we disallowed "for sale" and "want to buy" posts in our regional forums in order to force people to use our Classifieds section. This is because we have a 50 post/30 day minimum requirement before a member can use our Classifieds. It's an extra layer of security that tends to keep scammers away. Many buyers/sellers like using our Classifieds for this reason.
Going forward, we're going to allow all members to post classified ads in our regional forums, even those who haven't met the minimum 30 day/50 post requirement. Local transactions are a big part of regional forums, as many people like to deal with local buyers/sellers, and we realize not all DSMers will participate in our Tech forums enough to reach our requirements. So with that said, we'd like to warn everyone to take extra precautions to protect themselves in the regional forums when entering into a transaction. We'd advise not dealing with those who have New Member titles under their names, and if you do, be extra cautious. We've outlined a number of tips to help you protect yourself against fraud here:
