2G-specific 3000 GT brake upgrade review

Well i finally decided to do the "big brake" upgrade on my car.

I decided to go with Brembo Sport Drilled rotors LINK TO ROTORS

$188 shipped

For the calipers I went to a junk yard. 100 bux

I feel i should warn you.. IF you decide to get the calipers from a parts house (Autozone, Advanced, Oriellies..etc) be aware that SOME places sell only the piston side of the Caliper.. not the whole thing, if they are rebuilt the intent is that use use the non wearing half of your stuff and they give you the "core" that has been rebuilt.. since you dont have the rest of the caliper you should not go this route...

Anyway since i have a 2g and the calipers were pre-94 i had to either get SS brake lines OR get some OEM 1g lines.. I went ahead and got the SS lines, bought from good friend for 50 bux..

I used Bendix OEM spec pads from Advanced Autoparts at $45/set EBC Greens or Hawk HPS are better pads, but i like to use stuff i can get locally.

well after 50 miles of break in baby driving I started to test the setup.

the installation is simple and without a hitch, if youve ever changed your brake pads this will be no challence

I surpassed every hope I had, the breaking power is far above and beyone what our stock stuff could ever hope to be.. this setup is simply amazing in its grip and ease of stopping the car, breaking that would make your stock setup beging to fade or act erratic can now be be accomplished without out theses massive rotors and calipers even breaking a sweat..

You can really tell that even under hard braking your not even touching the tip of the iceberg as to how much stopping power you now have.. its simply amazing.. I mean, i cannot describe how good this setup works..

like many people i was considering going with an AEM or willwood kit with the big ole mack daddy 13" rotors and all that nice stuff.. but then i realized.. just how big of tires would you need to actually grip enough that those setups would be warranted? 265 drags on all 4 corners? I decided that was overkill.. so i went with this setup.. . which with my 225s.. is STILL major overkill... but its cheap overkill compared to AEM's or Willwoods's overklill their kits obviousley have more breaking power.. but you will probably never need it..

for the $$$ i find nothing close to approacing the value and performance of this upgrade..

I highly recommend..
